NPP Projection Blog 1/9 ADMIN/OPEN/CLOSE, Karen

Presentation Issues:
-During the first round in TH1, about 50 minutes into the Little Women DCP feature, the dowser closed on its own. Both Michael and I happened to be in the booth and we heard it close. We have no idea why.
-The Little Women print still looks great, no scratches.

Preshow Clips/Playlist:
-Swapped out the 7.1 version of 1917 in the playlist. Made a few other minor changes to cues.
*We will always use the 7.1 version, if we have it, over the 5.1. Also, we are not equipped to run Atmos. Whenever ingesting the feature, be sure to take the OV file as well as the 7.1 (if 7.1 is a VF) - you don't need to bother with OCAP or Atmos files unless they are the OV (which they will most generally NOT be). Once the feature is ingested, you can delete any duplicates off the TMS other than the file being used in the playlists.
-Built all the new A1_011020 playlists, most of them ran short and needed a minute welcome card in front.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up:
-Spoons & Toons went very well in TH1. We teched all the components on Wednesday and then again with Nell today before the theater opened. This enabled us to have a quick turnaround.
-They did a pre party in high res where they played a spotify list while also showing content on the screen. It was easy, no problems.
-All applicable cables and peripherals are back in 4/6.

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):

Ordering/Receiving (content):
-Ingested Just Mercy, feature plus keys
-Ingested Matilda (keys go live Friday night)

Outgoing/Shipping (content):
-Deleted Citizen Kane (feature and playlist)

Print/video Inspection:
-Teched 'Just Mercy' for assisted audio/ccap, vol, and lights

Additional Notes:
- Since Dan moved the lens on the 35mm projector, we actually do need to adjust the masking for reel 7 of Little Women now, it made the issue worse by putting it completely on the curtains (it was just barely under the edge of the curtain before). So, the projectionist should take care to be in the booth at the changeover between reels 1 and 2 to push the masking plate back in and between reels 6 and 7 to edge the plate back out to cover the time code.

-I have also noticed that we are starting to have focus consistency issues, very slightly. The distance between the trap and the gate should be 6 mm (1/4") or less. I believe that the space between on those on P1 is slightly more than that (I compared it to P2 for quick reference) and that is causing our film to have more movement in the x-axis and causing it to go in and out of focus. Either Alec or I can adjust this the next shift that we have some time. The instructions on how to remove the gate support and adjust the spring are in the Century manual.

-Chris came in to train and built cue sheets, scheduled out Friday, helped run and break down Spoons, handled all MOD calls and manual starts. He stayed and went through post-close techs of content and closed down for the night with me. He also did all the marquee changes.

-Since Michael will be coming in at 2:30 on Friday, I will remote in to turn on the projectors for the staff screenings, I also let Mascha know that she can call me with any questions regarding cue sheets since there won't be a formal "review" today.
