NPP Projection Report 5/13 Admin

To do this evening/ was completed:

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built and scheduled preshow playlists for The Mask and Videodrome.

Scheduled playlists for the private Doctor Strange screenings on the 17th and the 19th. Used the same playlist as I did for the private event on the 12th as it just has a 30 minute preshow with no previews.

The private event Doctor Strange playlist was scheduled in Theater 1 for two of the regular screenings this weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Since this playlist has no trailers nor any in house trailers/PSAs we can’t use it for public screenings and it’s also 10 minutes too short. I replaced the playlist and updated the cues for these screenings.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: Placed 1.85 lenses and plates in the Theater 4 projector for the Mask screening tomorrow.

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received posters for We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and Avatar 2. Placed one World’s Fair in the archive tube and hung the other outside. Avatar posters placed in the caddy.

Ordering/Receiving (content): Received Downton Abbey and Ghost in the Shell DCPs, ingested Downton to the TMS and Ghost to Theater 1.

Copied the DCP of Jews and the Blues to our hard drive and ingested it to Theater 1.

Downloaded both video files for the Style Wars screening, both the feature and a clip to play after the film. I began the conversion of the feature to DCP, it will be transcoding into the evening. Will covert the post-movie clip tomorrow. A minor note about the feature, the file began with color bars followed by some technical info (runtime, sound type, resolution, ratio, etc) and a film countdown. I trimmed this out of the DCP.

Outgoing/Shipping (content): The release drive for Men is on the way, so I packed up the pre-release DCP we received to return.

Print/video Inspection: Screened some preshow content and trailers for Kat and the Cinema team, Kat said it went well. Cleared the clips from the IMS but left them loaded on the TMS.

Checked the Jews and the Blues DCP with John, it looks and sounds good.

I broke down the Hong Kong trailer reel, reattached the leaders, and put them back on their cores as we won’t be using these until the July Sundays on Fire. When we do, I think we should leave the leaders attached when splicing them together and just add some extra leader at the head and tail. The leaders aren’t very long and will just produce a black screen and no sound for a few seconds between the trailers.

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Added tracking for Men, it’s coming Monday. Filled in info for Bob’s Burgers movie which is now pending on Deluxe, no tracking yet.

Maintenance/cleaning: Received new cleaner for the Swiffer, placed in booth 1.

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes, the second round in Theater 2 for today was listed as a Doctor Strange screening, though it was actually Everything Everywhere. The correct playlist was scheduled in the TMS so I just updated the title and credits times on the cue sheet. Checked over the rest of today’s and the weekend.

Marquee updated?: Took down Blade and put up We’re All
Going to the World’s Fair. Only have space for one rep title now with all the first runs, so I moved Videodrome over to the left to distinguish it from the first run titles.

Posters updated?: Took down Bad Guys and hung World’s Fair.

Cleaning lights on for the night?:

Projection cart by entrance?:

Additional Notes: Looked into the damage claim made by the Academy about the Eve’s Bayou print. I re-inspected the other reels we still have in house which were run on the same projector as the reel of Eve’s Bayou that was damaged was run on and did not find any damage. I also ran a trailer after undoing an adjustment I had made to the projector after this screening, and despite trying to deliberately make the film go out of alignment in a way that might have happened during projection the trailer was not damaged. I also did not notice any damage to the print after I projected it the night of the screening, nor were there any issues with the film going through the projector. I shared all this with John and Matthew.
