Projection Close 10/24 (Lillian) Maintenance Update! New Lamp

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey y'all. I have some news, which is that our lovely and wonderful projectionist, Alec, will be out for the next two weeks as he recovers from his stint in the hospital. I have adjusted the schedule for the next two weeks (this week hasn't changed apart from Alec being taken off the schedule, and I think the week of 10/28 through 11/3 will be just fine the way it's been structured. No heavy changes, but let me know if you have any questions. In the meantime, let's send Alec some good energy. ⚘

Further notes from this evening and some updates below.

Abbott & Costello ingested in T3.

Presentation Issues: I noticed that The Woman King didn't start on time in T6, so I advance in the playlist by five min. Totally fine, just a bit annoying.

Preshow Clips/Playlist: As mentioned in a previous blog, Kat will be finishing up with 10/28 preshow content for Prospect on Tuesday--the second Forecast will be uploaded to the drive along with PS_Generic_Irish_15min  and PS_FR_Banshees_5min
So those can be ingested once we get em on the day.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: Put a seat back in T7 for ADA access.

Print/video Inspection: I know it's rather annoying and tedious, but when we get a print Tails out, make sure that you rewind it again after inspection so that you don't leave it Heads out and tenting. Tenting (another word we use in projectionist vocab for splices that tent) is another way of referring to film that looks like it's being pushes in and out along the sides due to stopping and starting whilst inspecting. it will take a long time to rewind it twice again so that it's Heads out and looking great, but it's important for the projectors and for the film's lifespan. I finished inspecting Demons and to my knowledge, it's red because it's supposed to be, and not from fading/oxidizing. We can look up the film to be sure. AGFA prints are always a little on the janky side, but it's not in terrible condition. Some tenting splices, fair amount of emulsion/vertical base scratches, quite a bit of oil-like (visually, not substance-y) residue on all reels. Should play just fine, but keep an eye on it.
If someone could rewind reels 1, 2, and 3, that would be lovely.

Maintenance/cleaning: I changed the bulb in T6. Took me an unbelievable amount of time to find the right hex wrench with a long enough handle, (we should invest in the big guys if we don't have one...5mm hex!). Went through a bunch of diagnostics and logged the lamp changed on the box and in the Christie itself so that we know what type it is, when it was changed, why, and how many hours it's got. The lamp is working beautifully now!

I tried to put on our new Grainger belts for the Century's and whilst they're the perfect top width and thickness, the lengths are off. It's tough measuring these belts, or perhaps I'm just haunted by middle school math. That being said, I decided to check every analog projector we have and every length is different from the Simplex's to the Century's. It was a close match. I deconstructed, regreased gears and took new measurements. I ordered new belts and these should arrive Tuesday. I'd love to have them setup before some major Halloween screenings!
