Projection Admin 12/08 A few notes from yesterday...plus training initiatives!

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. I got food poisoning yesterday, which is why I ran out feeling ill. Much better now, but I won't be going back to Overgeens any time soon. Feeling loads better today!

Just wanted to follow Alec's last blog and say that yes, we did indeed add quite a bit of visual information to the Projectionist manual. Piggybacking off the previous image guide I made for edge damage, I added in the written info and visual (with a text overlap) for the new Karaoke setup in Trees. Alec added multiple images to the Spoons write up and the Yamaha Mixer, more closely identifying its components and why we use them so frequently.

Today I had McKegg come in early for some extra training initiatives. We'll spend the next few Thursdays working mostly on 35mm projection with AV mixed in. This will dovetail nicely with the visual guides that Alec and I will be adding to and, once everyone gets a chance--please read them. Alec did a fantastic write up on the Spots for T1 & 2, so we should all be familiarizing ourselves with it. One of these mornings I'll add some photos in for that, too.

Okay! Back to McKegg...
We first ran loops on the Century's in T4 since the electricians were working in T1. Williamsburg has now received the RP40 loop (we spent time going over this particular loop and why it's important/well loved by projectionists). He ran reels 2 & 3 (the only reels we have) of our in-house test print of Mulan, and I threw in a (less than 3 minutes) trailer reel in between the feature just to really shake things up. I added funky changeover cues to the trailer reel, too. As performers, these situations without the pressure of a real show can help us identify where we're comfortable and where we're not; what we've got down and what we might need a little extra help with. McKegg ran all of The Wiz last night with Alec present and assisting, so next week we'll do a practice show with a mock preshow playlist so that McKegg can get into the flow of how we run 35 shows here (both with an intro and without). I'll be in the audience.

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Ingested the extension key for Triangle of Sadness
Ingested keys for Fablemans

Deleted The Wiz playlist as well as the STAFF playlists of White Noise and Fablemans.

Trailer Updates: John delivered the new A Man Called Otto trailer, which I ingest to the TMS.

Special Events/ AV set up: Cristina and I met with Kevin today to tech this evening's Kevin Geeks Out About Dinosaurs event in T1. The laptop connection and mics have all been tested and we ran through the presentation. All Will needs to do this evening is make sure the Yamaha is on in the theatre, bring out the table and plug in Kevin's laptop, turn on the switch for spots in the theatre (he wants spots on the right side, which is 'double' on the board in the booth) and switch over to the BluRay format on the Christie (as we would with Spoons). As requested, I put the two mics in stands which have been placed off to the side for today's first round of shows.

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):

Ordering/Receiving (content): Fun news! Cristina dropped off the trailers that her partner, Brian, is giving away. I actually knew about Brian because he used to work at the same places I worked at in Chicago, and he just so happens to be Cristina's partner. So wild and cool! We're actually getting more, too. Thank you, Cristina, and thank you, Brian! Will is going to take a look at some this evening and spend some time cataloguing their playability/aspect ratio and sound type. I'll do the others tomorrow and we'll take care of The Wiz re-inspection.

Outgoing/Shipping (content):

Print/video Inspection: McKegg finished inspecting Jackie Brown. I took a look at these reels since we had to add grease cue marks.

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: I cleaned some of the dust and gunk out of the shutters in T4 in both Century's.

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes!

Marquee updated?: We can put up Jackie Brown and take down The Wiz for special events.

Posters updated?:

Cleaning lights on for the night?:

Projection cart by entrance?:
