NPP Projection Report 3/19 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Roger was here working on the projector 1 lamp/power supply in Theater 1. He noted that all the safety switches were deactivated, except the AC blower one. He cleaned out the AC blower as it was clogged and could have prevented the lamp from striking. The more likely cause though is that the voltage increased after the power supply was changed, and the lamp shut off because the voltage was too high. We left the lamp on for a while (it was on for over two hours before I turned it off), and it stayed on so this should be OK. We should check the brightness on both projectors in there now to make sure they're even, since the voltage on projector 1 has been lowered.

Special Events/ AV set up: The Fugitive screening went well in Theater 4. This doesn't mean much to us anymore, but this is a pretty junky print. Most reels (2 through 6) had discoloration on the right 1/2-2/3 of the image, appearing as a magenta halo around figures. The rest was dirty and scratched. There was also a splice in reel 5 that was out of frame. I caught it pretty quickly (I think, judging by where I could see the splice on the takeup reel after I reframed). When inspecting please check all splices to make sure they're on the frameline (or, if not, they won't make the image go out of frame when projected -- ie anything other than 4 perforations between the printed framelines around the splice). If there's an out of frame splice, it needs to be noted on the report so we can look out for it or fix it before screening ideally. Here is a picture of the splice for reference:

   You can just see it below the splice, there's an extra perforation there. If you look closely, you can see the base of the television screen twice right where the film is spliced.

When I went to set up the mic for the Trees event today, neither the mic nor the DJ key were in the bin. I grabbed the spare key from MOD and labeled it better. I don't see the green key around anywhere in 4/6 so I'm leaving the spare in here until the other one is returned. Also all the cables from the last DJ were left by the turntables, please put these back in the bin when you wrap up. There is also a hook behind the pew to hang that cable that's connected to the mic 2 input right now, please coil it up and hang it on there instead of leaving it on the floor.
