Projection Close 3/18 Troubleshooting

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey everyone. Slow night, apart from some troubleshooting.

Presentation Issues: T1 notes below.

Preshow Clips/Playlist: We should be getting our new Forecasts from Kat by Monday, along with the film schedule. There's not many changes to make in our upcoming playlists apart from the forecasts, so we can easily build those once we've got them.

Trailer Updates: Ingested the Beau is Afraid trailer for this upcoming week. Checked out the rest of our trailer inventory for 3/24 and we need the Jumanji trailer still. Kirsten Dunst is in, so is Fast X

Maintenance/cleaning: Uuuuuahhhh! Lots of film stuff. Sorry to our patrons, MOD, and sorry to Jack, who I know did a great job of holding down the fort as best he could. A cancelled show always sucks.

As far at the projector in T1 is concerned, I spent a little while taking a look around, until I realized it might be best to compare and contrast both lamp houses. When the lamp is struck, the amperage meter reads almost to 175 on projector 1 (our problem machine) whereas on projector 2, its level is less than 120 ish. 175 is far, far too high to run that at. I know I mentioned a little while back that you can sometimes use lamps for the digital machines in film machines so long as there's compatibility with wattage/amperage in regards to the rectifiers.
I called Roger and he told me they should be in the 140 range, so there's definitely a compatibility issue. He also asked if the new power supply was grey or black. The new one is grey and the old one is black. He's going to bring another power supply with him tomorrow. He thought it might've been an igniter issue, and that definitely make sense for the lamp houses in T4, but they're a little different from T1. I'm not sure about those differences so much, though I know voltage shouldn't go further than 125 dc, at least for T4's lamp houses (in regard to the power supply). I've been curious about when those lamps were last changed, but we haven't been able to find much information. We still need to focus brightness since that's been dwindling and god knows all of those electrodes like to move and create drop offs as time marches on, so Roger is bringing a new bulb, a power supply unit and--if he can--a new igniter. I think it's time both bulb get replaced anyway, but we'll make sure the power supply and igniter are compatible. Roger will be in at 9am.

Update: ^just wanted to make note of it here that there are excellent notes on amperage in the manuals for both the T1 and T4 lamp house models--Strong Highlight II and X90 (remember...these are on our desktop in a 35mm folder)--, one of which I know for a fact does reference a lot of this stuff directly should you ever need to troubleshoot, or if you're interested to know more about the technical side of this. I know I sound like a grumpy old lady when I keep saying how cool and important the manuals are, but they actually are! Highly recommend reading them when you have moments to spare. All our projectionist veterans relied on these.
