NPP Projection Admin 4/11



To do this evening/ was completed: Set up the laptop/HDMI connection (on stage AJA connection) in T2 to look at the Shouting at the Screen slideshow. Connection worked just fine but our projection laptop doesn't have a Microsoft PowerPoint account. I tried to create one which caused the application to freeze repeatedly--I couldn't do anything with it. Cristina didn't have PowerPoint on her laptop and neither did MOD (floater) so we didn't really test the preshow. That said, the HDMI connection worked well and I was able to advance through the slides no problem (Dropbox slideshow). 

Tech'd Bring it On and White Chicks with Desmond--logged volume for both. Both prints are in great condition, look really good.

Also tech'd the first two reel of 2001--ran the first reel once on each projector in T1 to get a sense of the placement of image print on the reel. The image is significantly more pillarboxed on the right side of the screen, and looked the same on both projectors. I took videos for reference. To my eye reel two seemed to show a slightly more prominent asymmetrical pillaboxing. 2:20 masking causes some bleed on the left curtain. I rewound both reels onto show reels for more upcoming tech. Also: the introductory music sequence/black screen at the beginning of reel one features a lot of scratches/wear. Looks kind of like a Brakhage film.

Downloaded and ingested the Renfield preshow--playlist built.

Started scheduling the week in the TMS.

Started making the DCP for Modern Man (NoBudge), Corpo Celeste slide DCP'd.

I scheduled those shows just a minute or two after their real start time to get the content transferred, just FYI. Started building the cue sheets as well. Got the first three days done. Projection Admin (and Close) 10/19

To do this evening/ was completed: Real quick - It was a great day! For tonight, I've let MOD know that, since I'm more comfortable staying until most of the last round starts (due to some funky server issues we've been having), I'm going to go see a movie in T2 and can silently text with them if they need anything or should anything go wrong (knocking on wood).  Extremely thrilled to say that all three NewFest shows went very well this morning/afternoon. It was definitely a bit of a magic trick with some overlapping intros/Q&As but having my personal ROS helped so much. Thank you to Desmond, NewFest rockstar.  Desmond and I double checked all shows before doors. Gaffed the wired mics and tested everything. Since one guest for the q&a in T2 wasn't comfortable with the chairs, we swapped our directors chairs for the ones in the bar, which still worked super well with the slides and spots.  Had to ride the mic in trees a bit since everyone's got a differen...

NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state.
