Projection Close 7/28



To do this evening/ was completed: Both 35mm shows of Oppenheimer went beautifully in T4! Two sold out crowds. Some notes on the platter below. This might be excessive, but I gaffed the power cords (for the platter) so we don't trip on them since one of them has a very small cable and can get pulled out of the socket easily. This is mostly for me since I'm clumsy and almost took a tumble. 

I filled out the cue sheets for the rest of this week from Monday to Thursday, sans a few special events and The Meg 2, which we don't have preshow content for yet. Added credits info for The Mist & At Close Range. 

Received a bunch of books for Cristina! Gave her a heads up. 

Presentation Issues: Glad Shouting at the Screen went well the other night. Just for clarity (since I think my post might've been confusing), I didn't get a chance to try to Aja setup--pretty much same as spoons--before the show, so I settled on making that DCP since I didn't want to leave Will to try it that late in the game, even with ten minutes of turn around time. Apparently it's all working just fine, including the other setups for hdmi connection! Alec was able to test the setup the next day and thought maybe powe-rcycling the projector would help if nothing shows up next time, so I'll keep that in mind. I'm still majorly confused and honestly frustrated as to why that happened after trying so many variations...

Ordering/Receiving (content): The other day I downloaded and ingested Actual People, which was a mistake since that's showing at WB. I was confused since I was actually sent that DCP directly, without anyone else cc'd, so next time I'll double check the calendar. Been receiving/cc'd on some WB stuff recently so maybe we can find a way to make sure we filter everything out properly, but I'll also just make sure to double check our Events Calendar.

Maintenance/cleaning: Added info for The Meg 2, Talk To Me, Teenage Turtles to the whiteboard in 4/6. 

Just a note on (first round) Oppenheimer: Note sure if there's a sonic splice  somewhere (in addition to the  ones we made in house), but something caused the print to get slightly bunched up in the feed/brain area when there was about 30 minutes left of the feature. It loosened and sorted itself out and it's not that this isn't common, but I heard the sound. Another not uncommon thing that I had to look a little harder to notice is that the platter sometimes shifts with certain weight applied and the print might not be a perfect circle. I think this might've had something to do with the bunching. It's genuinely not a massive deal. Noticed some new sounds, too...nothing of great significance, just some curious, soft wind-like noises and some slightly scratchy ones in both brain areas (film is not getting scratched fyi) Other than this stuff, overall the platter is running super well!

Also, just a random recommendation here, but I would be on the 10 in the countdown leader when you start the show. Killing the motor when I came up on the 11, then manually advancing to the 10 seems to always give the projector/platter enough time to come up to speed together and the universal logo won't sneak up on you. 
Check your focus whenever you hear a splice run through the projector. Might throw you out of focus ever-so-slightly. Annoying, but it does happen.

To do this evening/ was completed:v Mandy ingested to T1. Reached out to Vision for new posters. Was placed on hold, which was more an unending cycle of pressing 1 for hold and then being told to press 0 for voicemail or 1 for hold. Point being I left a voicemail requesting new posters. Gave them our account number, location and my cell. Outgoing marquee letters taken down. 11/10 playlists and forecasts deleted, Chicken Run V2 and Christmas Action trailers downloaded and ingested, 11/24 A1 playlists and packs built. Inspected Raising Cain print. It's in good condition, minimal scratching, no splices. Inspection sheet filled out. NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. Thanks for the Christmas coverage and for quickly hopping on board to accompany Alec while he's out for a little while - I really appreciate it. We've just about got our schedule sorted, so please remember to take a look to see the changes made.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Double checked that T6 and T6 specific playlists are all set.  Tomorrow! Please get your eyes on When Harry Met Sally just to check sound/image and credits info. Screens this Saturday/Sunday but the keys open up tomorrow. I adjusted the playlist based on the ingest letter (and looked it up online, but the offset is a little different, so you'll want to make sure!) Thanks!
