NPP Projection Report 8/23 Admin


To do this evening/ was completed: Had our cinema meeting. Got a couple techs and meetings setup for Friday. We're on track with NewFest happenings. 

Filed down both 1.85 plates for the T6 projectors, they look good now. Ran loops for tonight and checked the soundtrack on the first reel of Fearless. It’s definitely Dolby A and it sounded really good, including the dialogue. All set for tonight!

Checked the motor casing for P2 in T6 again, still looking really good!


Started converting Marie Antoinette to DCP, it’s for a private event in T6 on 9/11.


Got a warning on the T6 Christie that the IMB battery is low. The Doremi IMB for the ShowVault server uses a circular lithium battery. I tried finding a nearby store which had it but it didn’t look very promising so I ordered one on Amazon. There were none with Prime shipping so I chose expedited and it said 28th/29th for the delivery. Chris said it will be fine for us to wait until then to replace it.


Scheduled Gran Turismo staff screenings.


The supplemental packages for Gran Turismo (FTR-3) still needed to be ingested. We won’t be getting keys for the version that was delivered first. Ingested both the CCAP and OCAP version and added it to the playlists.


Chris at DMS heard back from Christie in response to the logs he and Gabe sent from the T3 projector. Chris’s suspicion was right, the logs confirmed the backplane PCB is having problems. The logs showed that all boards connecting to it were having connection issues. I gave him the OK to order a replacement.

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Cleared up some mistakes on the TMS for today and a few days ahead (mostly T6) where the wrong playlist was scheduled. 

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: Double checked to make sure that Fearless playlist had the proper triggers set up for T6. 

Karaoke set up with Will-- please see notes about the DJ key below!

Adjusted the volume for the Cat Video Fest feature since it's the same file as last time and needed to be wayyy lower. I'll double check this tomorrow along with Grand Turismo to make sure volume's fine. 

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received posters for The Creator. In T3/7. 

Ordering/Receiving (content): Keys for Bonnie n Clyde open up on Friday - we can tech then. 

John looped us in to the booking thread for In The Line Of Fire. Delivery was requested for the 24th of August, but there's no estimated delivery info anywhere (on Deluxe). Forwarded an email I got from Deluxe to the folks in the thread (as well as Jeffrey) since the keys are ostensibly on hold and I'm not sure what's going on with the feature, too. We've got time, we should be okay. 

Keys for Talk to Me will arrive this evening. 

This evening, John is bringing the drive for The First Slam Dunk. 

Outgoing/Shipping (content): Viva got brought down. Made the shipping labels. Going directly to Anna Biller. Cristina has the tracking info.

Maintenance/cleaning: Please, everyone, if you work a shift that involves using the panel in Trees--make sure you set yourself a reminder on your phone to put it back in the box. We found a spare with MOD. I'm going to make another copy this week that we can keep in a special spot so that there's another on hand, but we need to get into the habit of making sure it stays put. Thanks! 

Got some references for the (potentially) replaceable parts of the bad power supply we took out of T4 recently. They're just really expensive and getting harder and harder to come by, so at least we've got leads on what to order and how to fix them should we ever need it. 

Ordered some canned air. We're fine on them at the moment, just want to have them on hand and keep at least one can in the booths we don't run film in so that we're ready to clean when we're there, doing maintenance.

To do this evening/ was completed: Scheduled 1/3 - 1/9 in LMS. A few manual starts in there. I scheduled those shows just a minute or two after their real start time to get the content transferred, just FYI. Started building the cue sheets as well. Got the first three days done. Projection Admin (and Close) 10/19

To do this evening/ was completed: Real quick - It was a great day! For tonight, I've let MOD know that, since I'm more comfortable staying until most of the last round starts (due to some funky server issues we've been having), I'm going to go see a movie in T2 and can silently text with them if they need anything or should anything go wrong (knocking on wood).  Extremely thrilled to say that all three NewFest shows went very well this morning/afternoon. It was definitely a bit of a magic trick with some overlapping intros/Q&As but having my personal ROS helped so much. Thank you to Desmond, NewFest rockstar.  Desmond and I double checked all shows before doors. Gaffed the wired mics and tested everything. Since one guest for the q&a in T2 wasn't comfortable with the chairs, we swapped our directors chairs for the ones in the bar, which still worked super well with the slides and spots.  Had to ride the mic in trees a bit since everyone's got a differen...

NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state.
