NPP Projection Report 9/26 Admin (Jack & Alec) + 9/25 Close


To do this evening/ was completed: TMS scheduled, cue sheets built for the upcoming week, letters up for Rear Window. 

Exorcist: Believer ingested to TMS, Running on Empty ingested to T3.

NoBudge went very smoothly last night.

Cleaned 35s in T1, ran loops afterward, framing and focus set.

Special Events/ AV set up: I tested the wireless mics through the PA speakers and it worked well, we will just have to lower the volumes of the mics on the mixer in the booth and remember to reset their levels when we reconnect the mixer to the CP750. This should work well for KGO next week!

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Got extra Dumb Money and Exorcist posters.

Ordering/Receiving (content): I finished downloading Cora Bora. This wouldn't ingest because all the files hadn't been downloaded. I saw a note in a blog about the DCP having "too many files" but this was not the case, all the files in the Google Drive folder were needed for the complete composition. I know we're used to seeing DCPs with 6 files (preshow content, what we make on DCP-o-matic) but really this is just the minimum amount of files a DCP can have, there's often additional subtitle files and also the content can be broken up into "reels" which will result in multiple audio and video files in the finished DCP. Both those things were the case with Cora Bora.

Ingested the "Digital Curanderas" short. File naming issue. When you get an ingest error saying "file does not exist" this is usually the case. The TMS/IMS will display the name of the missing file in the error message, so compare it to the DCP on the drive and make sure all files are present and named correctly if this happens.

Started downloading the last feature link we have for NewFest. It's This Place. This is downloading on the booth 1 iMac and should finish tonight so please keep an eye on it!

Maintenance/cleaning: Gabe from DMS came and changed the AC relay and igniter in the Theater 1 Christie and the flicker seems to have leveled out as a result. We'll keep eyes on it.

He also pulled the logs from Theater 3 to send to Dolby and Christie to try and explain the loss of IMB connection 30 minutes after powering the projector on. I followed up with Jerry and Chris after he left about NewFest, which starts Oct. 14th, and that we need to figure this out before then, as they have several screenings in Theater 3.

I replaced the second spotlight (that was blinking on and off) in Theater 4 with a new one.

To do this evening/ was completed:v Mandy ingested to T1. Reached out to Vision for new posters. Was placed on hold, which was more an unending cycle of pressing 1 for hold and then being told to press 0 for voicemail or 1 for hold. Point being I left a voicemail requesting new posters. Gave them our account number, location and my cell. Outgoing marquee letters taken down. 11/10 playlists and forecasts deleted, Chicken Run V2 and Christmas Action trailers downloaded and ingested, 11/24 A1 playlists and packs built. Inspected Raising Cain print. It's in good condition, minimal scratching, no splices. Inspection sheet filled out. Transferred Marvels content to T6, as it was missing from the server due to the 1:20 tomorrow being a manual start. NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. Thanks for the Christmas coverage and for quickly hopping on board to accompany Alec while he's out for a little while - I really appreciate it. We've just about got our schedule sorted, so please remember to take a look to see the changes made.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Double checked that T6 and T6 specific playlists are all set.  Tomorrow! Please get your eyes on When Harry Met Sally just to check sound/image and credits info. Screens this Saturday/Sunday but the keys open up tomorrow. I adjusted the playlist based on the ingest letter (and looked it up online, but the offset is a little different, so you'll want to make sure!) Thanks!
