Projection Admin 11/30 Lil & Jack

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey projection - I know the following is lengthy, but please take the time to read. 

    Had some last minute troubleshooting with the Beyonce feature as it came with supplementary packages (we get these sometimes depending on the feature) and I'll explain this as best I can since it's actually rather confusing, especially if you've never dealt with this before. The feature we received (which were/are the only available CPLs on Eclair and have the date 20231124 in them) are essentially "base" versions and you need to ingest and keep them on the server, then upload the supplementary packages (VF "version file" content in the email with the keys! this is VERY easy to miss, especially since it's so rare we have to do this. I've attached an image below of the packages in the KDM email, which are below the keys. You will download and ingest these just as you do with KDMs. Extra confusing seeing as how they're not attached, but linked in...) After you upload the packages, upload the keys as the third step. It's confounding because they keys we received are for CPLs that look ever so slightly different and end in the date 20231126, so at a first glance it just seems as though nothing matches. The correct CPLs show up once you've followed the aforementioned steps (and when click on the new CPLs, you'll see the KDMs pop up as per usual) then you add the new CPL(s) into the playlist. This is, however, a good example of why I brought KDM maintenance up in our projection meeting. Once you upload new keys, especially for new release films that are about to premiere, please flag anything unusual - do the same when you cross reference the cue sheets with the TMS. First thing this morning I noticed that the keys weren't active on the TMS, which would've shown up last night as that's when they were ingested. The more time we have to make sure we're all set, the better, so always check them once you ingest and tap into the Deluxe portal for any additional information. Granted, we only received this message (in a more clear way) in the actual Deluxe portal just yesterday! We were able to run a staff screening today and used it to tech sound/image.

Notes on T6: So, we started having connection issues last night with the ShowVault server disconnecting from the TMS. It was going in and out this morning. I rebooted the ShowVault (two switches on the back. if you ever need to reboot, press them down until you hear them click to the other side as they can hold in a middle position if not pushed properly). I also rebooted the TMS and power cycled the projector. This has, for the time being, done the trick. We should be just fine for today, but Alec is pushing for more permanent solutions in our problem houses. Quick update (later in the day here now): we are running just fine. I'm not having any connection issues, but Will knows to reach out if anything happens. - L

Frame and focus set for Titanic tonight. Cleaned projectors afterward. - J

Tech'd Renaissance, Maestro and Christmas Evil. Volumes/lights up logged. When going through the Maestro playlist, all of the preshow elements, including the ubiquitous Tip, BOGO, Forecasts etc, sounded better at 3.8 than 3.5 to my ear. I mention this because the DCP_Flat pack that starts every show has a cue for 3.5 in it. Thought I would mention this here before changing anything with that pack. - J

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: I built out the playlist for NoBudge 36 today based on the info I got while teching with Desmond on Monday. I've got a couple of tech questions for Alec tomorrow, so there's a few bits that need minor adjusting plus we'll definitely find a time to go through everything once more before the big day. - L

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: KDM window for Still (12/05) opens up tomorrow. Liased with a bunch of folks on the private events front today.

Ordering/Receiving (content): NOTE: I reached out to John today about Fantastic Planet since I couldn't find it on the calendar anymore and we're not doing it this December, but hopefully in January perhaps. For now, I am keeping it on the server since the KDM lasts until mid January, the 15th to be exact. However, if we need to delete it in order to make some room, that won't be an issue.

Outgoing/Shipping (content): DHL will pickup Raising Cain tomorrow between 10am - 3pm. 

Rescheduled a pickup for Seconds as it needed an Express pickup. Going out today.  L

Maintenance/cleaning: One more note (writing this at 6:16pm) as Will just informed me that there's no volume information for Titanic. We've all got a good booth ear and have an idea of where to mark it based on the track type itself, but this still should have been done the past few days. I'll be in the audience tonight so I can update him on sound, but Will knows where to roughly start it at. - L
