NPP Projection Report 6/19 Open (and kind of an admin)


To do this evening/ was completed: The last short for the student film series tomorrow morning is converting onto the DCPIV drive. Please ingest all 4 (there are two 3rd grade shorts) to Theater 1 and check them for volume levels tonight after the last round lets out. Please also build the playlist from the run of show in the event memo here.

Light control automations are working again in T4. I'm not sure exactly why this happened, but the IP address was reset to the factory default after the LMS was power cycled following the fire alarm on Saturday night. My hunch is that I did a factory reset when we were having all those fluorescent flickering and dimmer issues in here (though I surely would've rebooted it after doing so), and the IP reset only took this weekend when the LMS was hard rebooted. Whatever may have happened, it's fine now. 

Important info for resetting theaters after a fire alarm though:
The general protocol for resetting theaters after a fire alarm is to run the "z FIRE ALARM CLEAR" automation macro in the theater and then just press the "Override" button to be able to change the settings again. The fire alarm activates this "Override" switch and turns on all the fixtures, and you can't de-activate the override until you fire the cue. You shouldn't have to unplug anything if a fire alarm goes off for most theaters (you need to manually reset the circuit board on the back of the rack in 3/7 to be able to turn off the override in those theaters, since the cue no longer works in there). But you shouldn't have to unplug any of the A-LMS with buttons which we have in 1, 2, 4, and 6 if the fire alarm goes off.
-Will told me this weekend that there was no mention of the cue in there which is strange since this has been the procedure for some time (since the dawn of NPP in fact). But it does indeed appear that info was never put in there. I've updated it. The special note about 3/7 is in there already, although there was a note to reset one of the breakers in 3/7 which you don't need to do. Just unplug/plug back in the circuit board.

Did some clearing off of the "Preshow & Trailers" hard drive. My intention with this was to keep a back up of Generic preshows and certain SE preshows somewhere other than the TMS in case we need them in the future, but if it works to download new preshow/trailers to it every Friday thats fine let's just keep it organized. In general I think it's a good idea to keep the DCPIV and DCPIII drives for feature downloads and in-house DCP making of features, shorts, and slides. Since these are portable they can be brought to a different booth to ingest directly to an IMS if needed. It also will just keep things cleaner and simpler to always put features & in-house DCPs on these drives. I transferred every current transitional onto DCPIV and all current preshows and trailers onto the Preshow & Trailers drive. Made folders to sort content by type on both drives as well, please use them.

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded/ingested the Action How to Order PSA and added it to all PG-13 & R playlists. This is supposed to replace the Godzilla one for Pg-13 and up this Friday. You can usually find these policies we've used before in the PSAs folder on the Projection & Content shared Google drive.

Made and scheduled the Thelma playlist.

Built/scheduled Dangerous Game, Before Sunset, and Basic Instinct playlists, These all need to have volume cues added after content gets teched.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: Set the chairs and mics for the Q&A in 3 tonight.

Projection Admin (and Close) 10/19

To do this evening/ was completed: Real quick - It was a great day! For tonight, I've let MOD know that, since I'm more comfortable staying until most of the last round starts (due to some funky server issues we've been having), I'm going to go see a movie in T2 and can silently text with them if they need anything or should anything go wrong (knocking on wood).  Extremely thrilled to say that all three NewFest shows went very well this morning/afternoon. It was definitely a bit of a magic trick with some overlapping intros/Q&As but having my personal ROS helped so much. Thank you to Desmond, NewFest rockstar.  Desmond and I double checked all shows before doors. Gaffed the wired mics and tested everything. Since one guest for the q&a in T2 wasn't comfortable with the chairs, we swapped our directors chairs for the ones in the bar, which still worked super well with the slides and spots.  Had to ride the mic in trees a bit since everyone's got a differen...

NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state.
