NPP Projection Admin 7/9


To do this evening/ was completed: 

Presentation Issues: Looked at the Dr. Black Mr Hyde DCP with Cristina, something weird happened with the conversion to DCP because of the framerate. DCP-o-matic automatically selected 30fps as the framerate, which was technically correct, but the DCP did not look or sound good. The movement was videotape-esque and the audio was way out of sync. I ran the original file through HandBrake to convert it to 24fps, which can then get converted to DCP. Had this issue once before with something else and converting it to 24fps did the trick. Audio is being analyzed on DCP-o-matic now. -AL

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Feature content added to Longlegs and Fly Me to the Moon playlists. Twisters ingested.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: Framing and focus set for Sandpiper tonight. Cleaned the projectors afterward. Good amount of gunk built up near intermittent sprocket. P2 lamp wasn't striking initially. Just adjusted the cable at the back of the lamphouse, the one that strikes the lamp, so that it isn't touching any part of the metal surrounding it. Do this if it doesn't strike tonight.

T4 mic set.

Print/video Inspection: Desmond came by to take a look at a couple reels of Set It Off. Volume off of projector 1 was fine at 7.5 on both processors, but Desmond noted the sound on Projector 2 was quieter, so I bumped it to 8.0. It might have been because the first reel has a lot more action at the top than the second, but figured I'd note it. 

Cheap Killers reel one ran for Cristina, volume logged, reel rewound. - JC

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?:

Maintenance/cleaning: Replaced the XLR cable connecting the wireless mic mixer to the Dolby processor in T1, this got rid of the hum when the mic input was selected on the 750. -AL

Replaced the card cage fan in the T2 Christie, also cleaned a lot of dust out of several interior areas of the projector and vaccummed/mopped the booth floor a bit. -AL

Put the new HDMI splitter in Trees, so we have the 1x4 splitter free for when we need it. -AL

Not sure if the speakers got moved during the brick work today, but I tested them and they sound fine. -AL

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Cue sheets for next week are mostly done. Event timing is all that needs to be added. - MC 

TMS is scheduled for next week.

To do this evening/ was completed: Scheduled 1/3 - 1/9 in LMS. A few manual starts in there. I scheduled those shows just a minute or two after their real start time to get the content transferred, just FYI. Started building the cue sheets as well. Got the first three days done. Projection Admin (and Close) 10/19

To do this evening/ was completed: Real quick - It was a great day! For tonight, I've let MOD know that, since I'm more comfortable staying until most of the last round starts (due to some funky server issues we've been having), I'm going to go see a movie in T2 and can silently text with them if they need anything or should anything go wrong (knocking on wood).  Extremely thrilled to say that all three NewFest shows went very well this morning/afternoon. It was definitely a bit of a magic trick with some overlapping intros/Q&As but having my personal ROS helped so much. Thank you to Desmond, NewFest rockstar.  Desmond and I double checked all shows before doors. Gaffed the wired mics and tested everything. Since one guest for the q&a in T2 wasn't comfortable with the chairs, we swapped our directors chairs for the ones in the bar, which still worked super well with the slides and spots.  Had to ride the mic in trees a bit since everyone's got a differen...

NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state.
