NPP Projection Report 8/15 Close


To do this evening/ was completed: South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut should be teched tomorrow during admin. Miseducation of Cameron Post also needs the credit lights cue added to the playlist.

Presentation Issues: We lost a show (the last round) in Theater 3 because the dowser broke and was stuck in its closed position, like what happened in Theater 4 last year. Daniella told me there was sound but no picture when the preshow started. The lamp was clearly on, so when closing/opening the dowser on the touch screen and switching between channels did nothing I figured the actual dowser mechanism was broken. I let MODs know I would need to open the projector up and wouldn't be able to get the show on screen in a timely manner, so they cancelled it. I opened the projector and held the dowser up with a cable tie. This issue was slightly different than in Theater 4 as it seemed the dowser had actually come loose in the Theater 3 projector and would not stay in the raised (open) position even if you moved it by hand. I emailed DMS to order a replacement and schedule a visit to put it in.

For now I deleted the dowser open/close commands from the macros on the Theater 3 server just in case. The dowser cues will appear to fire successfully from the TMS/IMS, but in actuality will do nothing.

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Added the new Appropriate Behavior DCP to the playlist.

Print/video Inspection: Took the opportunity with Theater 3 clear to tech the new Appropriate Behavior DCP. It looks fine, but the quality definitely reflects the material we received (a 2.5 Gb mp4 file). Dimensions look good, though.

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?:

Maintenance/cleaning: Tossed a TON of posters we don't need and reorganized the caddy. Go through these every once in a while!

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes, checked tomorrow's sheet and schedule.

Filled in credits timing for South Park shows this weekend.

Filled in Princess Mononoke timing.

Marquee updated?: Took down Harold & the Purple Crayon and went ahead and put up Cuckoo and My Penguin Friend. Also rearranged the titles on the front, they were looking pretty messy.

Posters updated?: Took down Harold and put up Penguin Friend with a coming soon banner.

To do this evening/ was completed:v Mandy ingested to T1. Reached out to Vision for new posters. Was placed on hold, which was more an unending cycle of pressing 1 for hold and then being told to press 0 for voicemail or 1 for hold. Point being I left a voicemail requesting new posters. Gave them our account number, location and my cell. Outgoing marquee letters taken down. 11/10 playlists and forecasts deleted, Chicken Run V2 and Christmas Action trailers downloaded and ingested, 11/24 A1 playlists and packs built. NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. Thanks for the Christmas coverage and for quickly hopping on board to accompany Alec while he's out for a little while - I really appreciate it. We've just about got our schedule sorted, so please remember to take a look to see the changes made.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Double checked that T6 and T6 specific playlists are all set.  Tomorrow! Please get your eyes on When Harry Met Sally just to check sound/image and credits info. Screens this Saturday/Sunday but the keys open up tomorrow. I adjusted the playlist based on the ingest letter (and looked it up online, but the offset is a little different, so you'll want to make sure!) Thanks!
