Projection Admin 11/15

To do this evening/ was completed: Gregg and I got in at 9am to try and resolve the issues we've been having in Theatre 2. Just as before, this took the entire day. Gregg will be sending a follow up email to Alec, Matthew and I, but for now I'll write a little here. Gregg was able to physically move the projector into a spot that has gotten rid of pretty much all of the keystoning, which then made it easier to tackle Scope and Flat presets. It took a long time since we realized adjust Flat first would have been better before getting Scope right, so we did a lot of adjusting and a lot of moving. Since the lens mount shouldn't have been removed the other day, these adjustments are harder to do since you're really starting from scratch, and the shift doesn't have much give. As such, the entire light path is affected. To make a long story short, we got Scope and Flat set with test patterns and content, and I made a few more adjustments to get the cropping, shift, and masking correct. I only had to overwrite masking for flat (just a little bit). Now, since we were testing content manually and moving back between scope and flat-- also manually--we wanted to test playlists to make sure the shifts would be fine. At first, they were, but the projector was taking on a lot of adjustments today and started doing the same thing where the image would shift to the right after the cues (for preshow / flat show), then shift again, ever so slightly off, if the feature was scope. What fixed this was simply just renaming the presets and we did, of course, double check that we'd saved everything. Machines get stressed out, glitch, and stall. I went through multiple playlists for Scope and Flat to make sure that all cues for our presets are working. The screen is nice and bright, focus is set. I sat in on the last bit of preshow, trailer, and first few minutes of The Wild Robot for first round, just to make sure everything was good.

A few notes for tonight: At the beginning of the day, I kept thinking that La Strada was in T2, so I really wanted to make sure we'd be set in there, but it's in T1. That should be totally fine, but please check this to make sure the sound level is good to go. It has no real credits scene, which I've noted on the sheets. Also, I forgot to double check The Conversation today, which should (I think) be 1.85. Please get eyes on it in before the second round (Anora). Desmond and I were supposed to tech today, but there wasn't any time left, so I told him that if possible, we'll run the first reel of Any Given Sunday after the final round in T1 lets out since it'll get out much earlier than other theatres this evening, and if that' snot possible to do tonight, I'll do it tomorrow. I've asked Will to take photos and videos tonight if he can run a bit of it. It's not a huge deal to get this since we know the print is solid, but I think it'd be best practice to.

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist:

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: The Boy and The Heron finished transcoding last night. I'm transferring it to a drive (DCPIII), so please ingest this once it's done copying over. Easy playlist to build. It's for the private event on Sunday.

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):

Ordering/Receiving (content): Kat sent out the new trailer list. Please start downloading tonight.

Outgoing/Shipping (content):

Print/video Inspection:

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?:

Maintenance/cleaning:

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes. Info put in for Boy and The Heron, La Strada and Any Given Sunday. We need to double check Any Given Sunday since it says 2hrs and 25min on the website, but I got a file of the film online and it's 2hrs and 37min there, with four minutes of credits.
