NPP Projection Report 10/13 Open
To do this evening/ was completed:
Presentation Issues:
Preshow Clips/Playlist: Will is right, we should be on Non-Sync in all theaters for playing Spotify in the house. Digital 4 is for sound from HDMI connections and only in Theaters 1 & 2. I noticed this on Saturday, updated the playlists for that day, then forgot to mention it after everything wrapped up. I've adjusted the cues in all NewFest playlists. Tested in both 1 and 6, all set.
We got a note from Chrissy at NewFest about the aspect ratio of She's the He opening at the end credits. I checked it and added a cue to open the masking for the credits to 1.78. I also set it to play entirely in the 1.85 lens file so nothing gets cut off.
Also ran through both NewFest playlists for tonight, made some masking/lens adjustments to a few of the shorts in 1. Otherwise everything was in order.
Desmond suggested we bump the volumes for the New Voices shorts (playing tomorrow night in T1) as Monisha from the fest will be here and typically gives this note, so I upped everything by .5
Trailer Updates:
Special Events/ AV set up: Mics are all set in 1 and 6 for tonight. Intro/Q&A in 1, just intro in 6. Tested the spots in both theaters, too, we're all good.
Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):
Ordering/Receiving (content): Desmond sent over the file of Demon City Shinjuku for Anime After Dark next week. This is converting in DCP-o-Matic in 4/6.

-I realized while making this that you can burn subtitles from MKV files into the image with DCP-o-Matic. Open the "Timed text" tab, check "Use as" and select "open subtitles" (if that doesn't select automatically which it probably will), then check "Burn subtitles into image." Then adjust the "Y" offset to move the text up or down as needed. You can also choose which language from the "Stream" dropdown menu towards the bottom of the window if there are multiple subtitles attached. I added this to the manual. here.
-You can also switch the audio track in DCP-o-Matic if the file has multiple. Instructions in manual here.
So, we basically have no need for HandBrake anymore. Good riddance, I say, as it encodes down the video quality unless you want to wait some 48 hours for the conversion to finish.
Blade of Fury and The Warriors prints came in.
Outgoing/Shipping (content):
Print/video Inspection: Started inspecting Blade of Fury to confirm subs/no subs and... Warner Bros. lied to us again, this print has subs. It's also in pretty nice condition. There is a bit of residue throughout (which causes some discoloration at the very beginning, just for the first couple opening titles) and it's the slightest bit faded but I think this will look good. Not much physical damage at all.
