Projection Report 3/14

Presentation Issues: There is a major issue with the Oppo Blu Ray player in T2. Smoke played fine for about 20 minutes. After that, the film would occasionally skip, switching to static and then back to the movie. After about an hour, the film paused and would not restart. I restarted the bluray player and switched the channels on the Christie from Bluray FLAT to DCP and back. The film played for another 30 minutes. Then it skipped, froze, and went totally black. I tried everything from restarting the Christie to reconnecting the HDMI cables and switching channels. Nothing would bring the Blu Ray picture back. My suspicion is that this is either an issue with the Oppo, the HDMI cord that connects it to the projector, or the Blu Ray channel itself. I can not rule out there being a problem with the disc, as we do not have any other region-free blu ray players to test it on. Unfortunately, the DCP Kris King made was not ready to ingest until around 3pm today. I tried ingesting it multiple times, but each attempt resulted in a "failure" error message. I restarted the TMS, remounted the external drive, but nothing worked.

My suggestion is that 1) we have DMS come take a look at the Christie in T2 and make sure all the channels are functioning properly and that the HDMI cables are not damaged or otherwise malfunctioning and 2) have them look at the TMS as well to see if they can determine why the DCP would not ingest. I'm not sure if this was an issue with the DCP itself, or the TMS.

The good news is that the guests in attendance seemed to be understanding of our technical difficulties. All other scheduled content in T2 played without error.

Preshow Clips/Playlist: A1_FiveFeetApart is scheduled and ready to go.

Trailer Updates: We have not received a trailer list from Kris King for this week yet. There shouldn't be many changes, other than a few in-house trailers. Dylan P., keep an eye out for the trailer list tomorrow AM and contact Kris King if we don't receive one by noon.
