NPP Projection Report 7/6 Admin

To do this evening/ was completed: The leak in Booth 2 is still going. I emptied all the water early this afternoon, the trash can was about a third full.

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded and ingested the updated Godzilla policy and added it to all playlists.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: Set everything up for Spoons tonight, everything just needs to be turned on.

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received new posters for Where the Crawdads Sing.

Ordering/Receiving (content): Project A 2 print arrived.

Outgoing/Shipping (content): The Bling Ring was picked up.

Still waiting to hear back from Sony about One False Move and I Know What You Did Last Summer pickups (the guy who coordinates this is out of office until tomorrow), but I’ve packed up the box for I Know and placed it by the wood shelf at the bottom of the stairs in Booth 1.

Print/video Inspection: Inspected Project A 2, it is quite beat up. All reels were warped for at least the first half, reels 2 and 3 are quite heavily warped throughout (reel 2 is probably the worst warping on a print I’ve ever seen), the other three reels get better in their second half. Scratches are pretty tame except reels 4 and 5 have some heavy base scratches. All reels are also quite dirty. Reel 2 had dozens of splices and even more sprocket repairs and strangely, there was a short section in this reel where the colors seemed to be faded only in the center of the frame. I think I’d like to look at at least some of the first two reels when this is teched on Friday, mostly to see how the heavy warping on reel 2 affects the focus. It’s possible that increasing the gate tension may help but parts of the screen may still be soft with how badly it’s warped. The whole print has a very strong vinegar smell as well, so the projectors will need to be cleaned after the print is teched and after the screening, and any house reels which hold the print should be cleaned after it comes off as well, to avoid contamination of anything else. For now, I’ve cleaned the reel I used for inspecting the print.

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: There’s no entry for this on the asset doc, but I checked tracking for God’s Country, a screener DCP which the cinema team will be watching on Friday. It’s coming tomorrow and I told them I’d screen it in Theater 3.

Maintenance/cleaning: Removed the studio guides on the projectors in Theater 4 to see if it helps make the focus more even. I ran a reel of Wild Wild West on projector 1 and was still seeing some softness on the right side of the screen. The gate tension was at the highest setting and when I loosened it I was able to get the whole screen sharp.

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift):

Marquee updated?: Took down The Matrix and put up Devil in a Blue Dress

Posters updated?:

Cleaning lights on for the night?:

Projection cart by entrance?: Yes
