NPP Projection Report 9/27 Open/Event

To do this evening/ was completed: Check that the video component of the Ham on Rye DCP downloaded fully (should be 85.2 GB) and copy it to the DCPII hard drive in the Ham on Rye DCP folder, and ingest to Theater 3.

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built Willy Wonka, Death Becomes Her, and No Budge playlists. For NoBudge, we will leave the masking and lens file at 1.85 for the duration of the program.

Trailer Updates:

Special Events/ AV set up: The Amazon event in Th4 went well. I set up two mics before opening and had stands ready for them. I showed McKegg this setup, and explained that this is how mics are setup for intros/Q&As in the smaller theaters. When we were pulling the mics out before the preshow the hosts decided they only wanted one mic, then ultimately decided they would do the intro without any mics, so we broke down everything and brought the mixer, mics, and cables back to 4/6 and the mic stands to Th1, so McKegg got to see both the setup and the break down. Jack also mentioned that the feature was letterboxed in a flat package, despite no ratio being indicated in the DCP name. The keys for tonight didn’t open until 6pm so I quickly put the feature on screen between the rounds and discovered the movie is 2.20:1 (which I had a lens file and masking all set for, thanks to Nope), so I simply added the lens/masking change pack to the playlist before it started.

McKegg had a bit of an issue with the mic for trivia, he was getting no sound through the mic 1 input. I suggested switching to mic 2 which worked. It’s been a while since I’ve done trivia, so I can’t remember if using this input is necessary for when the DJ inputs are also being used, so I’ll look into it tomorrow and write down all the steps for the trivia setup.

I double checked the masking for Off the Charts in Th3. The masking setting was fine, but I made some slight adjustments to the lens file to compensate for a bit of keystoning. Should be ready to go for tomorrow night.

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):

Ordering/Receiving (content): The video component of the Ham on Rye DCP didn’t download completely from Dropbox (which seems to be a pattern with downloading DCPs from there), so I started syncing it to our Dropbox folder on the iMac.

We received the Prey for the Devil clip for Brooklyn Horror Festival opening night, I downloaded it to the hard drive.

Sent Bros to all servers.

Outgoing/Shipping (content): Printed and attached return shipping labels for The Last Seduction print. Placed it on the cart and scheduled a pickup for tomorrow.

Print/video Inspection:

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?:

Maintenance/cleaning: Jack mentioned hearing some crackling from one of the three left surround speakers in Th3 when he put on Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead. Once he pointed out which speaker it was I heard it, too, though it was very, very faint and inaudible from the seats. To me it wasn’t audible with the channel ID test, but when I played a first run trailer I heard it again faintly so it seems to be something with the speaker and not the sound mix. It’s not really noticeable now unless you’re standing under the speaker, but will likely get worse over time. We have a backup surround speaker, but just need a mount for it. I’ll write to DMS about ordering one and then swap them out.

Remounted the blu-ray player on the rack in booth 1.

Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Filled in timing for the Zodiac screening on Thursday. Filled in cue sheets for Tuesday 10/4 through Thursday 10/6. Just need to fill in timing for Ham on Rye once the content is ingested.
