Projection Admin 2/21



To do this evening/ was completed: Been a bit of a journey today with The Manchurian Candidate. The new link we downloaded the other day (and DCP'd) is of better quality, for sure, but when taking a look at it today, it cuts off before the credits and we're left with just a black image. I tried opening the source file on the computer (4/6 and T1, just to be sure) and had issues skipping around in it. I couldn't get to the credits part, so in order to actually open it, I put it through handbrake to make it an mp4 and was able to confirm that it cuts off in the source file, which means the issue didn't happen whilst DCPing, but could have happened whilst downloading it to the desktop (or the source file itself is mucked up). Instead of redownloading the same file, Desmond found another, which I tried downloading but it was just as large as the previous, so I went through a few others and finally landed on one that wouldn't crap out on me while downloading, but then I realized that the one I was downloading was, funnily enough, the OG file Desmond sent on Feb 12th, which we still have in the official playlist. I want to be clear - it does not look terrible- it's passable, for sure, but if it can be a little better, then that's great. Right now, we're going with that OG file, however, since the better quality file is only missing the credits, I added it into our editing software with the credits sequence from the OG file and matched the color so you can't really tell. I have just exported this file and am going to have Will DCP it so that, hopefully, we'll have a new DCP by morning. 

Presentation Issues:

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Mississippi Masala and Virtuosity playlists have been built. 

I downloaded the new content from Kat, so we can build out the new playlists. 

Got my eyes and ears on Mildred Pierce today. It's ready for the weekend. I brought up the volume considerably. Playlist is set. 

Trailer Updates: 

Special Events/ AV set up: DCP'd and ingested the slides for Virtuosity and Mississippi Masala

Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):

Print/video Inspection: Ran reels for A Clockwork Orange and Virtuosity in T1for tech. Volume info has been noted. 

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: We do have tracking for Demons 2, which should be here by Monday. 

Maintenance/cleaning: Changed the lamp in Theatre 5 and cleaned the projector. New lamp working beautifully.

I scheduled those shows just a minute or two after their real start time to get the content transferred, just FYI. Started building the cue sheets as well. Got the first three days done. Projection Admin (and Close) 10/19

To do this evening/ was completed: Real quick - It was a great day! For tonight, I've let MOD know that, since I'm more comfortable staying until most of the last round starts (due to some funky server issues we've been having), I'm going to go see a movie in T2 and can silently text with them if they need anything or should anything go wrong (knocking on wood).  Extremely thrilled to say that all three NewFest shows went very well this morning/afternoon. It was definitely a bit of a magic trick with some overlapping intros/Q&As but having my personal ROS helped so much. Thank you to Desmond, NewFest rockstar.  Desmond and I double checked all shows before doors. Gaffed the wired mics and tested everything. Since one guest for the q&a in T2 wasn't comfortable with the chairs, we swapped our directors chairs for the ones in the bar, which still worked super well with the slides and spots.  Had to ride the mic in trees a bit since everyone's got a differen...

NPP Projection Report 4/6 Open

To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 3 issue happened again, Carly radioed me that the second round preshow didn't start. I was able to restart the projector and put the preshow on about 12 minutes before lights down. Trailers/feature played fine after that. I wrote again to DMS and Jerry said he'll have a list of parts to replace on Monday. For the sake of clarity, here is everything I've gathered about this issue: -When it happens, you won't be able to control playback via the TMS, manually fire automation cues, or access the IMS web GUI at all -Schedules for Theater 3 will display as "KDM missing" and the storage health icon on the Overview page will say "Storage degraded," even though the storage is healthy and KDMs have been uploaded and are active. -This issue prevents the server from validating KDMs (even though they are there and valid), so encrypted content will not play with the server in this state.
