NPP Projection Report 4/8 Admin
Important note: DMS sent an external power supply for the CP750 for Theater 1. They are guessing an internal power supply failure is causing the channel assignment glitches we’ve been having. This would make sense as disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply has been temporarily fixing the issues. I disconnected the main power cord and attached the external power supply to the “back-up power” input on the back of the processor, and connected the external supply to power. This bypasses the internal power supply so we can continue monitor the unit to see if it ceases to glitch. I ran the channel ID test before opening (and after changing the power supply) and the alignment was correct. Please continue to run this daily. If we go a whole week with no issues I think it’ll be safe to say the internal power supply was the issue, at which point DMS will send us a new internal power supply for us to install in the unit. Continue scheduling Theater 1’s shows for the day before the theater opens.

Trailer Updates: The new Trail Mix drive had an updated Minions 2 trailer which is two and a half minutes so I swapped out the 50 second one for this one and removed the Prince of Egypt trailer from the PG trailer pack.
Special Events/ AV set up: Did a tech of Shouting at the Screen in Theater 2. For this event we’ll use the PA speakers which usually live under the curtain in Theater 1, with two mics connected to it via the Yamaha mixer. The hosts will be giving a running commentary of the film and will be sitting in the back of the theater. Both PA speakers are behind the Theater 2, along with four extra long XLR cables (we’ll still probably need two regular length ones as well so the mics reach all the way to the back with enough slack so we can keep them out of the way and tape them down. They’ll be watching Willie Dynamite, a region B blu-ray which works on our Oppo player so I’ve set this up in Theater 2. Don’t think we have any blu-ray events coming up in 3 before this but if something comes up I can bring the player that was connected to the Theater 2 projector down to that booth. Since they’ll be talking over the movie, it will be necessary for the projectionist to adjust the volume for music/action scenes and for dialogue scenes. I wrote down good levels, but 4.5 was good for dialogue and 4.0 for music and action. The blu-ray has a mono soundtrack, so the processor’s decode mode should be switched to Pro Logic so it plays through the center speaker only instead of the left and right. We may be ripping the blu-ray and converting it to DCP, however.
Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received posters for Bob’s Bugers and new posters for Doctor Strange.
Ordering/Receiving (content): The Fantastic Beasts drive came in, ingested the feature to the TMS.
Print/video Inspection: Shrek 2 and Magic Mike XXL playlists are good to go.
Maintenance/cleaning: Reorganized the poster caddy, got rid of a few posters from the trivia section which had been sitting there for months and I don’t think will be taken. Archived extra Sonic 2 and Ambulance posters.

Started inspecting Deadful Melody, it came with a trailer reel which should be shown before the feature. Per usual with the Hong Kong prints they require a descent amount of repair. I’ll finish it up during my closing shift tomorrow night.

Zip tied the charging cables for the CaptiViews to the cart and numbered each one as well as each device so we remember to plug them back in when they are returned to closet
