Projection Admin 10/21
To do this evening/ was completed: Below is the email I wrote to DMS to summarize our most recent and outstanding issues along with what I was able to conclude/resolve today. I took a good look at most of our servers to make sure everything's functioning properly, including our most used screening rooms from the festival. I have yet to hear back from DMS, but I'm keeping this here so that the details are logged and not just in our emails, should we ever lose access.
* Theatre 3 randomly going offline. No projector issue, just the server, the IMS is unresponsive and we see the blank error page. We haven't had any issues with the T3 server going offline in the past two to three days. I haven't had any issues today.
*Playback/Playlist issues: this happened with the playlist for the feature Piece by Piece, in which in theatres 5, 6, 7 and 2 had, somehow, built itself an inaccurate playlist with missing and incorrect kind of and amount of preshow, plus no trailer pack, but the feature was there. The inaccuracies were the same each time and the playlist would be shown in each individual IMS as such - 1min logo slide, 5min preshow, then the feature. Mind you, all the content needed for the accurate playlist was present in each IMS. My quick fix was to reedit the playlists in every IMS exactly as we had built them in the TMS, then save. That is the only thing that worked.
*TMS clip transfer issues: In response to yesterday's (and Saturday's) issue in which the OCAP 7.1 file of Smile 2 would not work in T7, despite being ingested. On Saturday, we had the same issue in T6. No issue with KDMs, no need for there to be CCAP files ingested to an IMS in order for the OCAP to play (I checked with multiple features this morning), so what I did today was try to reingest the 7.1 from the TMS, which only worked in T7 and not in T6, so in the T6 IMS I decided to ingested the OCAP 7.1 via eclairplay, which worked. Jack noted in his blog from last night that T6 briefly went offline between rounds 2 and 3, but he was able to restart the IMS (he's out sick today, but obviously the server was, in some capacity, responsive enough in order for him to reboot it).
*Theatre 2. We've discussed this before, but we're still having sensor issues in T2, which affects the brightness. I believe our ongoing problem with the X sensor was unsolvable last time we had it checked, and I had a fine time changing the lamp about two months ago, but it's not as bright as it should be. I took a look at the brightness levels today, Z axis, and DMDs, but adjusting those colors - notably the green- isn't really something that I think is going to fix this since the sensor issue stays put. I've cleaned out the lamphouse since we had a lot of brick work going on in there and bits of sand snuck its way in there - I mean, before I went to go change the lamp in September, a colleague had reported on some severe brightness/image issues the night before and in the morning I found that I actually had to (take the old lamp out first, of course) and remove the UV filter so I could get an unpleasant bit of dirt off of it.

Received Jennifers's Body.
Outgoing/Shipping (content): Got rid of almost all NewFest content on each server and not just the TMS - a few servers were in the yellow area for storage space and now we're back in the green.

Asset tracking doc updated/checked?:
Maintenance/cleaning: Ran a reel of Devil's Backbone and ran loops. The cues were dark on that reel, even with the grease cues that had been added, so I thought that was kinda strange, and a pain, but nothing to worry about for tonight. The film looks and sounds great - I got volume. With the cues, Will asked me to take a look at them and turns out, they're on the wrong side! But good to know the original ones are at least passable, I guess. Never put grease cues on the emulsion side. Always add them to the base. For tonight, remember to not just trust the subs for focus. Double check the image with every reel.

Please run a reel or two of Christine tomorrow.
