Projection Report 3/31 (Dylan AM/Daniel PM)

Presentation Issues: Th 5 loaded the wrong playlist for the first round. BEACH BUM was scheduled for 10:30am, but somehow US was loaded instead. I have no idea how this happened, but I rectified it quickly once I was alerted to the problem. Any one else encounter an issue like this before? I'm hoping it was a fluke. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Cleared out a bunch of old A1 playlists and old features from the TMS Trailer Updates: none until 4/2 Special Events/ AV set up: Set up for the Q&A in Th 6 this morning. Presentation Issues: None Preshow Clips/Playlist: scheduled Dumbo shows for Monday — Thursday Trailer Updates: The bar advertisement is built into the all ages trailer pack currently. Projection Report 3/27

Presentation Issues: Pulp Fiction froze probably about 30 seconds before the credits. It seemed that this file caused the server to freeze (I doubt it's a problem with the server itself because everything else has played without issue). The server started responding again after a little bit without me having to restart it, but by this point everyone was already leaving the theater (understandably not pleased). I did notice the server act funky when I loaded this file to QC earlier today, however I did not have time to watch the whole thing before we opened so I did not see any presentation issues. This was very unfortunate because if this file had been completely QC'd, we would have caught that the server had issues playing it. We even had a backup DCP (which was made by accident but sure would've come in handy!) that could have been used instead. I understand that sometimes there is simply not enough time to check everything all the way through but it's crucial, when w

Presentation Issues: None Preshow Clips/Playlist: build the A1 playlist for The Beach Bum, began scheduling it ** scheduled all shows from Friday — Thursday (minus Dumbo) where possible (CatVideoFest can't be scheduled because Captain Marvel cuts into its turn-around time, so I sent the feature file out to server 2) *** sent Dog Day Afternoon to server 2 as well Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): we received (another) poster for The Aftermath. The tube is down in booth 3/7. Ordering/Receiving (content): still waiting on Dumbo Outgoing/Shipping (content): I carried the rest of the outgoing DCPs over to the UPS drop Print/video Inspection: I did a QC of Pulp Fiction in theater 3 after the keys opened at midnight. Watched about 30 minutes of it — looks and sounds great, though there are some slight dialogue sync issues in the long hallway scene that seem to be just part of how the movie is mixed. Projection Report, 3/25 PM

Presentation Issues: None Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Jameson and Jawbreaker events went great. Directors chairs are back behind the screen in 1. After much random button mashing and cursing, I finally figured out how to program those stupid lighting boards: 1) Go into "Program Mode" (hold down the program button until the program LED flashes) 2) Select ONE fixture, get it where you want it. 3) Save it to a scene - press and release "MIDI/Add," select your desired scene. LED's on board will flash to confirm. 4) Zero out any faders 5) De-select the fixture 6) Either exit program mode to check your work (hold down Program button until program LED flashes, THEN hit blackout),  OR  repeat steps 2-5 for additional fixtures. Fixtures 1+2 are the spots, 3-6 are the pars. You can check out the manual to see what each fader does. I'll drop this into the projectionist training manual as well. Bloodbath

Projection report, 3/24 PM

Presentation Issues: None. Nice work this weekend y'all! I think it was the busiest one yet for them. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Added "A1_Us_plus10mins" and "A1_Us_plus15mins" to screens 1-3. Dropped these in the schedule tomorrow wherever it made sense. Created a playlist for In Bruges. Updated playlist for Don't Break Down with credits lighting cue, added pause to Q+A slide. Started a playlist for Bloodbath - still waiting on confirmation from Caryn about run of show. Made a Midnite trailer pack - not sure if this will get reused but there it is. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: I called in a favor to borrow a functional PA amp for STB this morning. The one we had for Saturday was barely able to get loud enough, and started clipping/cutting out toward the end of the show. Just couldn't get enough juice out of the old gal. We should definitely get something beefier for the future. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): O

Presentation Issues: None Preshow Clips/Playlist: Ingested 10 and 15 minute slides for this weekend that Kris sent over. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: I got some new cabling in for the PA, so I set it up in TH1 in anticipation of STB tomorrow morning and made sure everything was working. The busted speaker stand will work, you just have to use the pin to hold the pole up high enough. The whole shebang is behind the masking on stage right (mics, cables, etc.), except for the lighting controller and the HDMI box. The lighting control is set up with the following presets: 1 - wash with spots on stage right 2 - wash with spots on center 3 - wash with spots on stage left 4/5 - full wash, no spots 8 - Billy's party lights Hopefully that'll be enough for them, at least for tomorrow. I may swing by in the morning to help program some others (too damn complicated to write it all down here) and make sure they're happy. I didn't get to test the Aja

Presentation Issues: Not a presentation issue per se, but while updating the marquee a letter fell down and knocked me hard in the head, which left me feeling pretty sick. Leaving early to get it looked at. ** the TMS was acting funky again. Would not load the CPL of Us for the staff screening, and then froze in the browser, preventing me from doing anything in the TMS window. I gave it a reboot. This seemed to fix it. Thanks for all the training and advice over the past week, guys. I spent some time watching Bohemian Rhapsody in Theater 7 this evening,  and I think the audio could use an overhaul in that room - the left speaker is hissing like crazy, I suspect the amps are turned up a bit to high, and this might be the case in some of the other theaters as well. In my experience, CP750's are typically calibrated to run at or very close to 7.0, whereas all of the NPP 750's live in the 4.0

Projection report (admin) 3/15

Presentation Issues: Tom came to tech his disc of LAVENDER HOUSE for the Wednesday show. However, theater 1 (where the show is happening, and where we were planning to tech) seems to not be set up for blu ray. The player shows up on the monitor under the HDMI input, but I could not figure out what its image file on the projector was (a call to Dylan S confirmed that he too did not know). In any case, I could not get the player on screen. I decided to move our QC to theater 6 . . . but the Samsung player wouldn't play Tom's BD-R. It kept pausing 8 seconds in, and when I tried to fast forward the disc and skip around, it froze at 30 seconds in. This exact same thing happened with his back-up disc. I ran the discs over to the booth 4 Samsung player and had an identical problem.       At this point I was pretty stumped. I had tried to call Billy and Sam at DMS, but they were not answering their phones. After another try, Billy did pick up, and he suggested I run to booth 2 and t

Projection Report 3/14

Presentation Issues: There is a major issue with the Oppo Blu Ray player in T2. Smoke played fine for about 20 minutes. After that, the film would occasionally skip, switching to static and then back to the movie. After about an hour, the film paused and would not restart. I restarted the bluray player and switched the channels on the Christie from Bluray FLAT to DCP and back. The film played for another 30 minutes. Then it skipped, froze, and went totally black. I tried everything from restarting the Christie to reconnecting the HDMI cables and switching channels. Nothing would bring the Blu Ray picture back. My suspicion is that this is either an issue with the Oppo, the HDMI cord that connects it to the projector, or the Blu Ray channel itself. I can not rule out there being a problem with the disc, as we do not have any other region-free blu ray players to test it on. Unfortunately, the DCP Kris King made was not ready to ingest until around 3pm today. I tried ingesting it multip

All A1 playlists have been updated to use this pack. Trailer Updates: None yet. We will need to remove the Clueless trailer after tomorrow though. Presentation Issues: none Preshow Clips/Playlist: Apollo 11 is currently showing with Lego Movie 2 preshow... Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: QC'd Buffy in T1, looks great. I updated the playlist so the feature plays at 4.0 (4.5 was a little loud) and added a lighting cue for the credits. *Checked the Black Panther blu-ray for the field trip event on 3/27. Plays fine. Depending on which theater it's in start with the volume at 7.0 and raise/lower if necessary. It will probably be necessary to close the dowser and mute the Dolby processor at the end of the credits, since it will probably cut back to the main menu when it's done (I'm assuming this will be an entirely manual show).

Projection Report 3/8 (admin)

Presentation Issues: a weird glitch has occurred in the TMS scheduler. Whatever time you try to schedule a playlist for, TMS is actually plugging it into the grid two hours earlier. I discovered a work-around to this by trying to schedule the start time for two hours past when it's supposed to begin, and then re-'saving' the scheduled show in the grid to the correct time. It's tedious but appears to do the trick. Please keep an eye on the scheduled start times from Monday onwards just in case it is actually programming shows to begin two hours late . . . (or if  daylight savings time  somehow alters the start times) Preshow Clips/Playlist: I scheduled all of Monday — Thursday's shows (except for Smoke) ** built a playlist for CLUELESS dinner and a movie style (with intro slide for Nick to give his schpiel on top of before the credits).  This playlist still needs its credit offset  — the log-in was not saved for Deluxe One, though. ~~ I came in a little early today to take care of the Madonna show stuff ~~ Presentation Issues: the spotlights in theater 1 are still a little wonky. Whenever you select a setting (a 'scene'), the light has to travel to snap into place. To turn the lights on and off you have to hit the 'blackout' button, but this does need seem to remember what the last light position selected was. There's also currently no way to adjust light level or spotlight size as far as I can tell. .... ALSO, during the q&a the spots randomly switched to another 'scene' of a lighting wash plus swirling animated green lights. Fortunately I caught it right away and switched back to the stage left light position. Not sure why that happened — I called Billy to tell him about it and he didn't know either. Presentation Issues: No issues today Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: I watched Roma in Theater 2 for a bit to check on a customer complaint about a scene’s volume being too low. I think it’s just generally a quiet movie and needed to be bumped up from when we QC’d it in Theater 7. We didn’t receive any other complaints about the sound, but still something to keep in mind going forward. Showtime boards & recording updated?: Cleaning lights on for the night? : yes Lo-Res :

Sent out all the content, scheduled playlists, etc. Trailer Updates: updated the Adult trailer pack to include Apollo 11 and Us. Climax got the axe. (PS - does anybody know where the flat version of the US version 2 trailer might be? We only had version 1 on the TMS) Special Events/ AV set up: we had dual staff screenings of Greta and Birds Of Passage this afternoon. Both ran without a problem, though Birds was a no-show for audience. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): I put in poster order requests for The Aftermath, Dumbo, and Gloria Bell through
