Print/video Inspection: -Inspected the first two reels of The Secret Garden.  Seemingly an ideal print for a first-timer's inspection in that the first reel was a total softball, excellent condition with clear cues and absolutely stunning when viewed close up (although there is a trailer for the 1993 Nutcracker movie firmly spliced onto the print). The second reel followed suit until the last 2 1/2 minutes or so when a cluster of splices showed up, in particular a nasty diagonal one that hinged pretty easily. I taped over it on both sides, sorry if my taping protocol if amiss. The cues on reel 2 are also not ideal, black lab cigarette burns over a very dar

To do this evening/ was completed: - empty trash in all booths, Michael did some major purging today - Spend as much time in the theaters as possible - update the "runtimes" list on the whiteboard for this week (kdm and credit times are already done) - update the big white board with all IMS/TMS ingest/deletes, poster/marquee schedule, and events from the weekly review email - tech Premature, update cue sheet - if you want to, you can start to inspect Secret Garden, take notes if you have questions! (See receiving content, below) Presentation Issues: -Nothing major, the lights down cue was set at the wrong spot in the Emma pre show (5 min early), this was caught in the first round and it has been updated in the playlist. Preshow Clips/Playlist: -We finally got Emma 40 count to ingest. Thursday 2/27 CLOSE Chris

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: -This razorblade of curtain bleed on the screen left side is definitely pervasive throughout the building but is so slight that it's not really a problem for the time being, and could probably be fixed by just drawing the curve of the curtain fabric more snuggly against the chain within. Should be addressed but will not significantly affect presentation. Seems ever so slightly more prominent when the screen is running scope. Preshow Clips/Playlist: -Built out Brokeback Mountain, cues and all. Trailer Updates:N/A Special Events/ AV set up: -None today and It doesn't appear that we'll be having Karaoke this Monday but since I am usually the one here on those nights if someone could give me a quick run down of my responsibilities for it (beyond the set up detailed in a doc on the iMac) that'd be swell. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: -Slightest razor-edge of bled on the screen left curtian in T6 while teching the Scope  Come to Daddy.  Any slight alignment adjustment using the alignment control panel just resulted in bleed on the other side so I'm guessing this is another little masking error left over from today. Ut's only really visible if you're sitting right of center. Preshow Clips/Playlist: -Built out Emma once the Preshow content came in from EVO. Bit of a struggle there, the problems Alec and Karen had with it this AM persisted but after a little finagling with TMS the 10 and 20 count segments ingested just fine while the 40 refused to ingest, with the same old mismatched file size error. I checked the info section for both files and the EVO file size matched up with the Projection Mac file so not sure what went wrong there. Tried the ol' fashioned way and attempted to copy straight from EVO to DCP II, sat thru the progress bar b

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: -T4 has really bad bleed on the curtains again, especially on the screen-left side. All scope films in there during my shift today, it of course occurred to me to throw up a Flat image and see what it looks like immediately AFTER I powered the unit down for the night. Since I'm hoping to be in early tomorrow for 35 business I would be happy to learn a thing or two about digital alignment as well if there is time to address this. To do this evening/ was completed: -Delete Coming to America - Any further prep for coming film week (trailer assignments, EVO downloads, SPL building, cue sheets) I didn't get to do anything in that realm today as I spent all day with DMS. - Do NOT delete Cat Video Fest off of TMS, but you can take it off TH1 for the rest of the week. -After closing you can do IMS deletions that are listed under Wednesday on the whiteboard. Presentation Issues: -Right before the first round we were getting a ballast power supply error in TH6. The lamp would not light with the same error as we saw in Williamsburg about the LPS failure. Long story short, we eventually found out that the projector was running of off Low Voltage power supply only (plug A) and the dedicated line for the Ballast (plug B) was unseated from the socket in the wall. (Steve had moved the Christie earlier to service one of the 35mm projectors) It did set doors back by 20 minutes for the first round in TH6. Jerry fro

To do this evening/ was completed: Hate to leave this section so bare, but I don't have much in the way of tasks for tonight other than the usual walkthrough and maintenance. Presentation Issues: None Preshow Clips/Playlist: Based on what Chris noted last night and experimenting with it today, I don't think we should play the preshow at any level lower than 3.5. I turned down the preshow for the third round in TH2 and listened as the theater started filling up, and the preshow was pretty drowned out before the theater was half full. I wish I had a clear preference here, but to be perfectly honest I think any quieter clip (like the one from A New Leaf  in the generic representation PS )  was too quiet and any clip with music/yelling was just fine. To do this evening/ was completed: Moonstruck  DCP ingest failed (more notes below) **Tested 3.2 volume on preshows (more notes below) Presentation Issues: Not an issue in sight. Preshow Clips/Playlist: I was able to go in during the preshows to every theater but 7 to see how going down to 3.2 sounds. Only in 4 & 6 it sounded barely too low, but overall it seemed like a better level for the servers to communicate. To do this evening/ was completed: Following what Karen said today I tried out playing the preshow at 3.2. I tested this in Theater 1 and Theater 4. This level sounded good for these rounds but the theaters were both pretty empty. Erin, would you mind setting the preshow at 3.2 for the second round Portrait of a Lady on Fire in theater 2 since it looks like this will be tonight's busiest screening, and report in your blog if it is a suitable level? If you get the chance to do this in some of the first floor theaters as well, that'd be super. Change the snipe above Call of the Wild to now showing. Take Knives Out and Color Out of Space off the marquee and put up Call of the Wild . Moonstruck (homemade DCP) is loading onto the Projection Mac Server for a Film Feast team screening tomorrow. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: -Slight hitch with ADA stuff tonight, a visually impaired guest was told in an email exchange they'd be able to have descriptive audio for Jojo Rabbit  in T5. Part of the misunderstanding here sprung from the very easily muddled line between a guest asking for Descriptive Audio (VI) vs Enhanced Audio (HI). It is entirely understandable that managers torn between a thousand different tasks every day assume that if the guest is asking for anything related to audio that they are dealing with a hearing impairment, we should definitely make and reinforce a clear distinction between the two settings on our in-theatre listening devices for managers as well as the staff at large. The other possible confusion was simply the fact that T5 is our only house incapable of providing a descriptive audio track. Another understandably easy-to-forget piece of info; this should be reinforced as well. Double-checked and the cue sheets indeed

NPP Projection Blog ADMIN/OPEN 2/11

To do this evening/ was completed: 1) Please work on the cue sheets. Remember, you can go ahead and put end and credit times for movies that are holding over from last week. Presentation Issues: There were none Preshow Clips/Playlist: -Checked and updated Portrait of a Lady with tighter light cues, added a lights down, and took out the trailer for the same movie. -Built the playlist for Sabrina, looked over Casablanca Trailer Updates: -Made a new trailer pack called EarlyOpen and dropped it in the list since it was set to show the trailer of Portrait of a Lady right before the feature. I think, for tomorrow, since it is a single late showing sneak peek and not opening, we can keep all other movies with the current trailer pack. Thurs morning, I'll switch out trailer packs for the other features. -Pulled the updated Feb B card and new March A card off EVO. Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): -Received poster for "Burden&quo

NPP Projection Report Monday 2/10 OPEN+CLOSE CHRIS

To do this evening/ was completed: -Keys for  Sonic  arrived in the KDM gmail   but I neglected to pull them in, please do. -As of this writing  The Warriors  is slowly trundling onto DCPII from EVO, has been all day, please ingest, add it to the SPL I built,  and send it to T6 for teching. -Due to our recent roubles making sure updated SPLs are in the screens that need them, please make sure the SPL with all cues in place of Portrait  is on screen 2 Presentation Issues: None! Preshow Clips/Playlist: -Built SPLs for Warriors (SE_TheWarriors_021220), which is still missing its feature . -   Built complete SPL for  Casablanca (SE_Casablanca_021320). Just needs cues. -SPL for Portrait of a Lady on Fire is built and ready to go, has a 1 min welcome card on the front as well as a 30 second BLACK on the end as the credits are very brief, the sort that I imagine a lot of people sitting thru due to the hammer blow that is the movie's finale and they end abruptly in silence

NPP Projection Report 2/9 Close, Alec

To do this evening/ was completed: Deleted SPLs/features from 3, 4, and 5 which aren't needed after this weekend. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Scheduled Wednesday and Thursday, except for Portrait of a Lady on Fire and Casablanca . -Listened to the 20 and 10 count Generic_v8 preshow and did not hear anything I would describe as fluctuating volume. If anything the levels sounded very even from clip to clip. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: That’s a wrap on Oscars 2020. Huge thanks to Karen for everything she did to get this set up today. Once Chris and I tested the mics in the theater this event more or less ran itself except for volume adjustments at commercials which Chris took care of. We ended up playing the broadcast at 8.0 since the house was pretty loud. The ceremony was also on in Hi-res with sound from 6:30 onward. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/vide

To do this evening/ was completed: Oscar Set-Up: I have set everything up for the Oscars tonight. I reset the cable feed, (it was broken down for Spoons) put it on the appropriate channel, turned OFF the closed captioning we had for the Spirit Awards, and tested it in TH1. Everything looks and sounds great from the cable perspective. You will have a little bit of black space on either side of the image, however the 1.78 masking stop cuts in too much. 1.85 is fine in my opinion BUT if you feel strongly about doing a custom masking setting before opening doors, Alec, just remember to reset the masking at the end, since I am not on admin tomorrow and Chris is opening. Also, I ran into issues with the wireless mic sound. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: Since we had Spoons complain about clipping at the higher end, I believe that Michael made a slight adjustment to the Tapco mixer in the booth, the result was that down in the theater, on the Yamaha mini-mixer, in order to be heard at all
