Tweaks will likely be made to the webcam setup, as the audio isn't great. Tech'd the Practical Magic DCP we made. Ultimately too low-resolution. Keep an eye out for the film schedule this evening.  Additional staff screenings have been sent out for tomorrow.  For recording the Q&A tonight, I'm having us use the PC instead of Photobooth on the iMac. I set up the extender and it whilst it definitely works, I ran a few tests with myself walking around in the theatre and speaking into the microphone and it's just not as smooth as the PC. I'm sure we can work it out, but for tonight, we'll use the PC, which looks/sounds good. I had Will walk around with the mic in T1 and took a test video. I adjusted the playlist for Book of Shadows to have the mic volume at 6.5 since it was too harsh sounding at 7.0. Inspection report says "good" condition but it definitely leans heavily toward "Fair." Beginnings/ends of reels are scratched/dirty, fair amount of splices, and all reels have a magenta discoloration around image contours in one section of the frame, accompanied by consistent black blotches. Print is ready to go for tomorrow's screening. The new spotlights for T4 and T3 came. I'll have to test them out in the theater, they are definitely brighter than the ones we have now but they might not illuminate a large enough area, just depends how far back we position them. The power strip in T3 beneath the screen was turned off accidentally after NewFest, which turned off the masking motor, causing Barbie to play for about five minutes with bleed on the curtains. Note on staff screenings: I know it's normally mine or Alec's task to schedule staff screenings, but the screenings that were supposed to play today did not get scheduled on the TMS and one of the features didn't have an active KDM. I heard from MOD recently that they started late whilst I was gone, too. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Carly radioed this evening that the screen was white in between rounds of The Exorcist: Believer in theater 3 (this occurred around 8:15PM)  I checked on it, noted that the dowser was closed but that light was still getting through, opened and closed it again and, after a few moments of darkness, saw the light pop up After experimenting with a couple test patterns, trying and failing to close the dowser while these were on screen, stopping them, then trying again to open and close the dowser without any image up but still seeing the light, I concluded that it is probably the dowser itself that needs to be serviced and/or replaced Note: this was not having any effect on the pre-show or the feature, according to the server in the theater during the prior round (who also mentioned he'd seen something similar happen in between rounds in theater 2 the other day), but I stayed in the auditorium after the start of the next round'...

To do this evening/ was completed: Tech'd NewFest playlists with Desmond and Dustin before doors. Both NewFest programs went very smoothly today. Wireless mics have been returned to T1. The only note I have is that wired mics in T3 start generating a lot of feedback if the master volume level on the mixer is positioned at 12 o'clock. Position that knob to about 9 and you'll be fine. The Q&A in T3 started with some feedback due to NewFest staff adjusting levels during credits but I stepped in quickly--wasn't a big deal. No more leakage in 3/7. It happened to me today when I hit the "Next" button (which skips to the next clip in the playlist) to skip to a lens/masking change pack. This won't ever happen when we're just playing through the playlists during shows, but to avoid this when teching playlists always use the "Fast forward" button (which advances through the current clip 3 minutes at a time, but won't skip between clips) to advance to the end of a short which comes before a lens/masking change. I forgot to set up the camcorder until right before the Q&A started so the first 4-5 minutes were not recorded. The backup KYD zip file was downloaded to the DCPII drive which did not have enough space to unzip so I had to transfer content to make space and by the time that content moved the 35mm had started...all this to say that the file is still in Unarchiver right now, so now ingest has been attempted.
