NPP Projection Report 2/28 Close McKegg

To do this evening/ was completed: Yes,  We're All Going to the World's Fair  still needs to be ingested and the last bits of the cue sheets need to be filled out Presentation Issues: I got buzzed by MODs that a light went up in the Theater 2 server station and if we had touched any breakers today. I said we hadn't and they confirmed that it happened in the server station and not in the Theater.  Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: The Attack the Block intro went great! Intro was smooth and I broke down the set up and brought the mic back up to 4/6 Trivia also went well! Set up and breakdown was simple.  Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): I put the We're All Going to the World's Fair DCP on the drive after Lillian ingested that other stuff into Theater 1. I tried to ingest it, but the drive wasn't coming up at all for Local Storage. I was doing this at the end of the night, so I left it

To do this evening/ was completed: DMS is sending one of their technicians, Jerry, in tomorrow morning to check out the light issue. Roger will also be here tomorrow morning between 10 and 11am. Alec and I will tag team this.   Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Ran through ALL NSF '23 playlists with the programmers.  Made a few adjustments in each playlist. All slides look great! This will, of course, get double checked for tomorrow...as will the rest before they screen. Got volume for the NSF '23   Mubi trailer and Bumper .  The only thing we need to QC again is The Whole World and His Wife . I put the DCP into DCP-o-matic and made it flat, instead of Scope. I was going to make a new lens file for this and adjust the masking, but it's super off. It didn't look good as Scope in DCP-o-matic, so I made this Flat. This one is strange, though, initially I thought it was Intimacy Workshop that needed to be adjusted, but that was just scope all the way through. An

To do this evening/ was completed: Posting a little early. This morning the electricians fixed the light in T1. I ran through a few sequences just to double check and everything was working great until the fire alarm went off due to smoke in the 4/6 booth. Same thing as last time, it was the soldering on the roof. The smoke subsided and I cleared the theatres with the fire alarm cue. After this happened, the cleaning lights wouldn't execute, and stuck to house lights. Paul reset the fire alarm and I checked the first round of AntMan today once it finished to see if the cue would properly execute cleaning lights and it did not. We'll get the electricians back in here.  We should receive the new film schedule this evening.  Presentation Issues:  Preshow Clips/Playlist:  Made the DCPs for all the following NSF '23 slides:  Opening Nite, Matinee Two, NoBudge, Closing Nite ~ all of which are without sponsor info (I confirmed with Cristina that this is correct).  NSF '23 Spo

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: The emergency lights breaker switch was left on all afternoon/evening which, in combination with Alec's dimmer settings fix, kept the fluorescents in theater 1 down, though, a server told me the rear left fluorescent panel (the one closest to the guest entrance) turned on mid-film during the second to last round, stayed illuminated for a few moments, then went dark again Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Re-inspected Private Parts and packaged it for return shipping Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Marquee updated?: Removed Dreamcatcher and added letters for  Scarface ; took down  M3GAN  and Avatar: The Way of Water (noticed Cocaine Bear wasn't up so I added that as well) Posters updated?: Cleanin

To do this evening/ was completed: Yes Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: I downloaded and then ingested the Generic_Persian preshow clips for Persepolis next weekend and started built the playlist for it. All it needs is to be inspected.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): I ingested Bowling 4 Eva into Theater 1 and Persepolis into Theater 4.  Outgoing/Shipping (content): Someone down in the kitchen buzzed me about the Attack the Block print moving around because they've been using the cart. I explained that it's being picked up by Sony directly and it is back on the cart.  Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: I went down to Theater 1 to check on the flickering lights during both scheduled showtimes and it thankfully didn't happen.  Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes Marquee updated?: Posters updated?: Cleaning lights o

To do this evening/ was completed: This didn't affect the show at all, but when I was running loops in Theater 4 for the Private Parts screening the heat shield wouldn't open with the handle. The handle moved but the shield didn't. For the show I just opened the lamp door and opened the heat shield by hand and left it that way for the show, turning the lamp on only after starting the motor for a changeover and shutting it off before turning the motor off at the end of a reel. Took a look in the lamphouse again after the show, repositioned the handle a bit and tightened its set screw so we can open and close the heat shield normally now. No issues with the T1 cleaning lights! Please continue to monitor this. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Noticed the Oscar Live Action Shorts didn't get an updated playlist this week, Dreamcatcher and Cocaine Bear trailers played before the first screening today. I made a new playlist and scheduled it for the rest of the wee

To do this evening/ was completed: Re-inspected the rest of Dreamcatcher-- it's ready for pickup, though I haven't scheduled that yet. Downloaded and ingested all of the new 3/03 preshow content (forecasts, NSF preshow) and built all first run 3/03 playlists, as well as a playlist for Scarface. Updated the NSF tech sheet with volume and aspect info for the opening night program. Bowling DCP finished up in T1, started a DCP for Persepolis , it's transcoding as I leave tonight. Presentation Issues: No T1 ceiling light issues tonight. To do this evening/ was completed: Alec and I tech'd the Closing Nite portion of NSF '23. Volume and/or any other adjustments have been added to the tech sheet. Please remember to put this information for festivals on the official tech sheet so that we know where it is.   Alec ran Fatal Attraction in T1, I ran Private Parts in T4. Volume has been noted.  Bowling 4 Eva is converting to DCP, should finish around 7-7:30. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Started downloading the NSF preshow to the DCPII drive.  Forecasts 0303 are taking a little while to download.  Please download j2c file again for 25min NSF'23 preshow. please download 5min preshow for nsf'23. 15min preshow is all set.  Tech'd Johnny Guitar in T3 with John. Adjusted the playlist with correct volume/masking.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Update on Persepolis! I'm glad I still have these screen shots I took yesterday. So, Alec mentioned to me today that he ripped the file

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Rounds 2 and 3 in T1: Same ceiling light flickering during trailers. Same trick with the emergency ceiling lights breaker did the trick, but only after repeatedly turning it on and off. Heat shield on 35mm P2 in T4 would not stay shut--if anyone complained about a loud slamming noise during Dreamcatcher, it was me trying to slam it shut. Eventually opted to tape the handle to the lamphouse to keep it shut.  Also: Animatrix ran smoothly in Dolby Digital but when I switched over to reel one of Dreamcatcher the 500 switched to SR--decided to run the whole film in SR at 7.1 on both processors. I could not see the green light or any light inside of the penthouse readers (the one Alec pointed out to me). Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Dreamcatcher intro and screening went very smoothly. Print is rewound heads out ready for inspection. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Same back center ceiling light was flickering in T1. Triggered by the transitions, I assume. Matthew contacted the electricians, so hopefully we'll be able to sort this soon. Jack and I went back and forth with the breakers/light transitions to see what would help and once we were on house lights down a couple minutes into the feature--it stabilized. I have made a playlist for AntMan without cleaning lights--the last round this evening has that playlist scheduled! We can reschedule the TMS for this weekend using that playlist, but we'll see if help can come thru tomorrow first. As for this evening, Jack will avoid the cleaning lights cue for the show that's currently in there.  Preshow Clips/Playlist: I built the OCAP n CCAP playlists for Creed 3.  KDM for Johnny Guitar opens tomorrow.  Adjusted the volume for Cocaine Bear-playlists are all set!  It looks like Infinity Pool is listed on the trailer sheet for Prospect

To do this evening/ was completed: Note on ingesting supplement (VF) packages (OCAP & 7.1 versions of DCPs): in order to ingest these properly it has to be done on a server where the original version (OV, usually the 5.1 CCAP version) is present, otherwise the VF supplement DCP will not attach to the OV, and you will have an incomplete DCP which won't play. Once you have the complete VF on a server, it can be transferred anywhere without the OV being present on the server you transfer it to. I did have some trouble ingesting the OCAP EEAAO though, for some reason it kept failing when I tried ingesting it to the TMS. It didn't fail last night, it was just incomplete because the OV wasn't ingested to the TMS. Ended up ingesting it directly to Theater 1 and transferring the complete OCAP VF to Theater 6, where it is playing on Monday. Made the OCAP playlist and scheduled it. Also made new Close playlists for next week and scheduled those. Sharlene's Problem DCP conv

To do this evening/ was completed: TMS has been scheduled for 2/24 - 3/2. We're only missing a few bits here and there, such as the DCP for Creed 3 . Info for Creed 3 is not yet available in the Deluxe Portal. Cocaine Bear keys just came in, but I got the credits info from the ingest letter. This should, however, get double checked once we're able to tech it. I've written up on the white board that there's 6 min of credits. Keys open on Thursday!  Started filling out the cue sheets for this upcoming week. Some SE titles need credit info, like Johnny Guitar, Private Parts , etc.  Presentation Issues: Closed Captioning device in T3 did not work, apparently. However, MOD told me that the patron did not mention this until after the show and that she mentioned she'd been playing with it a bit. My assumption is that they do work, but that they have trouble staying on before the feature's started. I checked and it was definitely connected to T3, but that was during tr

To do this evening/ was completed: I managed to download the remaining two film files for the No Budge program using Cyberduck. Give this a try if you're having trouble completing larger downloads through Chrome, I've had lots of luck with it. Started converting  Sinking Sun  to DCP and  Sharlene's Problem   is also open and ready to convert when that finishes on the Booth 1 Mac to the DCPIII drive. Remember we can ingest DCPs directly from this drive. Converted the two slides for the engagement shoot tomorrow to DCP and ingested them to Theater 6. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Set up a mic for tonight's intro in Theater 3 and left a mic stand under the curtain. The spotlight remote is in the box behind the curtain. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: The KDM for Cocaine Bear will arrive on Wednesday 2/22.  Built the playlist for Fatal Attraction .  Built the playlist for Attack the Block, but we still need the DCP.  All Rep R titles ( Attack the Block, Private Parts, Fatal Attraction) are still in need of the Rabbit Hole trailer, should we still be moving forward with it. It's still listed as TBD on the trailer sheet.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Did some rearranging to get the DCP of La La Land copied over to the DCPII drive. It's still copying over, but should be done very soon. This can and should get ingested to T6 as soon as it's copied.  Took a seat out in T7 for 3:30 screening of Avatar . To do this evening/ was completed: Built playlists for Private Parts and Johnny Guitar, though the 5min preshow for Guitar won't be on Drive till tomorrow. Kubo and Wings of Desire removed from TMS/servers. Attempted to download the last two remaining shorts for NoBudge NSF: Sharlene's Problem and Bowling 4 Eva. Every download failed, some due to lack of storage space, but other hard drives had plenty of space and still they failed. Will investigate further this evening. LaLa Land is still transcoding in DCPoMatic at the time of this writing. Removed two ADA seats today, both during trailers/late preshow. If possible, if the guest has purchased tickets in advance, could projection be notified of the upcoming seat removal before the show, so we're not bumping around and making noise in the dark? Noticed on the cue sheets that all rep DCP titles had HI listed as available accessibility tracks, but none of these DCPs have that available. To do this evening/ was completed: Lillian was out today, I've added her to the paid sick leave calendar. We got a new hard drive for the T1 workstation. It's the tiny SanDisk, which somehow has 2TB of space. I re-formatted it as a NTFS drive, so we can ingest directly from it. I purchased a license for the NTFS for Mac software, so we are all set up for making DCPs on this station. To do this evening/ was completed: Juan, Vlad and co. installed two switches in T2, inside the booth, one to control the spotlights. They also brought the big ladder into T1 to check on the ceiling light we've been having issues with. We ran through several tests, bringing the lights up and down, from cleaning to "up" to "mid" to completely off and were unable to replicate the issue. They told me that the light had been changed very recently and didn't seem to know about a potential systems issue. We then went to T7 and replaced the dead bulb in the ceiling. They also installed an outlet box in 4/6 next to the desk, so we have a good amount of brand new outlets to plug into. Michael Thorpe stopped by to hand off a drive with his DCP for the private event on Thursday. I tried to locally ingest but the TMS didn't recognize the drive. When I tried using them just in the booth they worked fine and captions displayed normally. I'll have to order a slightly pricier one for Theater 1, but the ones I got should do for Theater 6. I adjusted the lock on the T7 Christie service door, shouldn't give us any more problems. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Malkovich went well. Rewound the print for round two tomorrow. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sh

NPP Projection 2/10 (Closing)

To do this evening/ was completed: Thanks all for covering for me while I was out sick! I was glad to be back with a very quiet Prospect shift.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: I downloaded and then ingested the following preshow clips into all theaters:  - TLR_NPP_FORECAST_0217A - TLR_NPP_FORECAST_0217B - TLR_NSF23 - TLR_NPP_RoxyCarmichael I started building next week's playlists, adding in those clips to the necessary playlists. I made 2/17 playlists for:  - Avatar 2 - M3GAN - Close - Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Tar - EO - A Knock at the Cabin Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up:  For the Shorts Fest, I downloaded the DCP of Operation Carcajou and ingested it into the server. I also downloaded D as in Do Not and started converting it into a DCP. It was still converting when I left.  Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Yes Maint

To do this evening/ was completed: Got a warning on the Theater 7 Christie which prevented the first round preshow from starting. The warning read "IMB Service Door is not armed." When this happens, you will also see a red warning icon next to "Security manager" in the Server panel in the Overview tab on the IMS web GUI. The warning comes up when the sensor inside the service door is not properly depressed by the lock. The service door is inside the projector, you have to take the lid off to access it. All I had to do was move the lock a little bit to depress the sensor, got the preshow started about 10 minutes after seating. It shouldn't happen again tonight. I had this problem after installing the SSDs last week, I got the lock in the right position and we hadn't got the warning again until now. Tomorrow morning I will reposition the lock so there's no wiggle room with the sensor, but it should be safe for now. I told McKegg to call me if something doe

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Karaoke at Trees went smoothly (note: the box in the closet on the mezzanine is lacking in gear required for karaoke and it seems a bit silly to have to pull mixers and additional mics/XLRs from theaters 1 or 2 each time we set up -- is there any way we could further consolidate or potentially devote more equipment to it for future events at Trees?);  Love Jones intro and screening was a success Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Close one sheets were delivered and stored behind 3/7 Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Finished inspecting The Love Witch and filled out an inspection report on the shared drive; also uploaded stills to the shared drive for Conrad Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Marquee updated?: Removed Babylon , Skinamarink ,

To do this evening/ was completed: Jack beat up his hand pretty badly, so send him some good energy or some memes.  Staff screenings for Tar, Magic Mike and Brazil have been sent out. Had our cinema meeting! We're in good shape for NSF'23. Let's continue to download, ingest, and organize all assets for tech.  We had a bit of smoke in 4/6 today due to maintenance on the roof. It faded relatively fast. All clear now, but just so folks know in case it happens again and you're wondering where the heck it's coming from.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded the rest of the preshow for Decision to Leave  and built the playlist out.  Downloaded and ingested the Generic Preshow Comics_15min for Ant Man playlist.  Ingested Fire of Love intro. Not sure if we'll be using this.  Trailer Updates: Ingesting the Oscar Shorts Trailer-- this can get added to all trailer packs apart from Special Event playlists!  Special Events/ AV set up: Took the attached

NPP Projection Report Tues. 2/7

To do this evening/ was completed: I reset the Deluxe portal password. It had been changed but the one saved on Chrome hadn't been updated. I saved the new password, it's: NPP7projection Uploaded our new TMS license, it will activate the morning of the 22nd, just before our current one is set to expire. The ceiling light in Theater 1 is still misbehaving. Now it just stays on sometimes, no flickering, though I don't think at full brightness (didn't take a long look as it was during a show). Luckily, flipping the ceiling/emergency light breaker on and off does the trick until the electricians come back. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built Close CCAP and OCAP playlists. Built Love Witch and Howl's , too. Scheduled next week's shows, just missing some special events still in need of playlists. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Huesera + intro/Q&A went smoothly, Q&A recording has been uploaded to Google Drive. Trivia went smoothly

To do this evening/ was completed: Matthew sent the film schedule this evening. The shows for this upcoming week can now be scheduled on the TMS. Cue sheets to follow... Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Made a DCP of Nanos , which has been ingested into T1. I noticed a bunch of files for NSF '23 that were downloaded to the DCPII drive, but not unzipped. Please remember to unzip these files or the server will not recognize them, and similarly, make sure the DCP is not in a million folders (even if it looks well-organized). Ingested loads of NSF '23 today.  Got the KDMs for Puss in Boots, The Whale, Love Jones, Avatar.  Keys for Love Jones will be active tomorrow.  Keys for Brazil will be sent on Wednesday 2/8 per studio rules.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Chenelle has an engagement shoot booked on Wednesday 2/22 @ 10am, that will likely be in TH6. The client will be sending us some photos to run through instead of one single still image. We might be

To do this evening/ was completed: Re-inspected the first three reels of Love and Basketball after the screening. It appears a sixth shipping reel is missing for this print--only five reels in its cans. I see there's a black shipping reel beneath the rewind bench in one but it's labeled as a house reel.
