NPP Projection Report 4/30 Close

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Made a point of listening to The Bad Guys preshow and feature with the more crowded weekend audiences, I think it sounds good at the volume I have it set to in the playlist. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Placed a copy of the STB setup guide under the curtain in Theater 1 and taped another copy to the wall in the booth. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Took down all info for the blu-ray for the Our Vision Media private event except volumes for each of the shorts. All four shorts are in one title/chapter on the blu-ray and it has no menu. Wrote down timecode for the start and end of each short, there is about 30 seconds of black and silence between each one. The first is in a different ratio than. the others so we can at least change the projector macro and masking during the first break. Finished ins

To do this evening/ was completed: The hosts for the private event will be dropping off a blu-ray tonight. Presentation Issues: I tried to recreate some of the issues that came up with the HDMI connection in Theater 2 last night. Though I didn’t get any IMB or Marriage errors, something is definitely up with it. Both blu-ray and the laptop appeared fine at first, but after switching between the two a few times the picture from the laptop eventually froze on screen, with a dark blue bar across the screen towards the top, and did not go away even when I connected the blu-ray player. I checked the settings for the channel and compared them to the HDMI channels in Theater 1, and all the settings were correct. I’ve told Chris from DMS about this, and it will be looked at during the visit on Tuesday. He also mentioned an alternate way of projecting an HDMI connection with a CPL played on the DCP channel, which I will try next time I’m in and the theater is not open for screenings. Had no iss

To do this evening/ was completed: Removed Lost City and Batman content from TMS. Presentation Issues: Major presentation issues during Shouting at the Screen. Teched the feature Blu-Ray after Round 1 in T2 and before the preshow for Shouting with the talent and Cristina. Both techs went smoothly, picture and sound were good to go. Preshow and slideshow intro for the event went smoothly, but when it came time to transition to the feature, I got a critical error alert from the Christie. To my recollection this occurred after I switched the HDMI cables on the Christie to switch over to the bluray player. The IMB status had turned from green to red. I attempted to restart the projector after striking the lamp, but I was prevented from doing so on the touch screen so I ended up unplugging the power cable and reconnecting it. At this point, the Christie was indicating there was a marriage failure, and I was initially unable to resolve that. I was in touch with Alec at this point and he ran

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built a playlist for the Shouting at the Screen preshow and scheduled it for tonight. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Pre-set most of the equipment for Shouting at the Screen. Left the PA speakers on their stands on either side of the screen behind the curtains. Ran an extension cord from the outlet behind the curtain on the right side of the screen over to the speaker on the left and taped it down. Have XLRs for both speakers connected to the mixer, and three very long XLR cables for each mic which will extend to their three seats in the back row. Set the mic levels but the hosts may want to do a quick check before the theater opens. The converter for the laptop to projector connection is ready to go as well, and there’s a spare laptop which will be used during the show to adjust the volume, and play a YouTube clip after the film. Went over all the different components with Jack, should go smoo

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built a playlist for the private Sonic screening on Friday morning, loaded it to Theater 1. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Mic was set up last night for the High Tide intro, I just placed a mic stand under the curtain in Theater 4. Double checked the changeover audio transition on the Theater 4 35mm projectors after a blip with the sound at the end of reel 1 during the Babe screening on Sunday. Confirmed that as long as the changeover button is pressed on the projector which the second reel will be projected from after the sound processor is turned on and before the show is started there won’t be any issues with the sound switching seamlessly between reels. Typed up a reference guide for the Spoons set-up for Booth 1. To do this evening/ was completed: Build and schedule the Addams Family Values playlist, fill in timing on cue sheets. Keep track of any features that automatically ingest, there should be a few tonight for Friday. Circle the servers on the whiteboard. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Updated the Bad Guys playlists for this week and next week with cues to raise the volume to 4.0 for preshow (3.8 for forecasts and PSAs), and 5.5 for the feature. Built a playlist for the High Tide preshow with the live intro slide and the director’s video intro, scheduled for tomorrow night. Scheduled everything for next week, except PG-13 and R playlists for Thursday 5/5 as the Doctor Strange trailer will need to be replaced. To do this evening/ was completed: Ingested new Forecast 4/29 and Late Round content, updated all playlists for the coming week. Currently it seems we're missing the trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, so I did not update the PG trailer pack. Looked through new TrailMix drive, couldn't find the trailer. Made playlist for Drag Me To Hell preshow as well. Cleaned all port glass windows in booths 1, 2 and 4/6, as well as all Christie lenses in those booths. Swept and mopped 3/7. Was going to mop T2 but swiffer wet jet was depleted and couldn't locate a new pod. **Was unable to clean P2 port glass in T1, screws were unmovable for me. 35mm lenses in 4/6 projectors cleaned. Presentation Issues: AC Interlock in T1. Ran Channel ID test in T1, all good. To do this evening/ was completed:  Presentation Issues: Several mentions were made throughout the day about volume; all films were playing at their default levels as automated in their playlists but still a guest complained Everything Everywhere was too low in theater 1 while another noted Sonic 2 was too loud in theater 2, however, this was during a chase scene with the soundtrack mixed up so chances are it was this scene in particular that was peaking During the screening of Babe: Pig in the City , a server working in theater 2 called to let me know there was no picture on the screen. I checked the status of the projector through the VNC Viewer and although the lamp was on and the dowser was open, there was in fact no image on the screen inside the auditorium when I was able to check on it after the changeover in theater 4. The MODs asked if I could restart the film since 7 minutes had elapsed without any image, so I brought the house lights up and ejected the playlist, manually loa

Wound the print back onto house reels for tomorrow, also cleaned both projectors again after the screening so they're ready for threading tomorrow morning. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): We’re holding onto the Men  DCP that came yesterday, though it’s not a release version and has no assisted listening or closed caption tracks and the studio will likely send a final release version which they’ll release keys for.  Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Shortened both takeup belts on the 35mm projectors in Theater 4 after the screening. To do this evening/ was completed: We’re receiving a screener DCP of Men tonight, but we won’t be using it as the screening will happen at Williamsburg and they’ve already received their own DCP. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Instead of reprogramming the spotlight settings in Theater 2 for Shouting at the Screen, I simply disconnected each of the stationary spotlights from power so we can use the moving spotlights for their presentation without washing out the screen. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received the new release poster for The Northman . Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Ran some of the Babe: Pig in the City print in Theater 4, it looks great. To do this evening/ was completed: Removed Morbius content from TMS. Everything removed from T7, Fantastic Beasts gone from T6.  Presentation Issues: Round 2 in T6 did not start as automated. Playlist was ready at 00:00 but simply did not start on its own. Second time this has occurred this week for me. Not an issue but one note for Cat People : brought sound up to 7.5 as dialogue struck me as slightly quiet. To do this evening/ was completed: Check over cue sheets for the week. Delete the features screening for the last time in certain theaters as noted on the whiteboard. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Updated credit lights cues in the Bad Guys playlist. also added cues to raise the volume on the preshow clips to 3.8 as it sounded a bit quiet. Forecasts, PSAs, etc. will still play at 3.5. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Since Desmond accidentally pocketed the 4/6 spotlight remote after his intro last night, we’ll use the remote from Theater 3 for tonight’s Cat People intro. By the time I got to checking it the movie had started in 4, but it worked in 6 so it should definitely work in 4 as well. The remotes aren’t connected to the specific lights, so they can be used in any of the theaters with these spotlights. No preshow clips were deleted from the TMS so they are all still available if we need to use them in the future. Downloaded and ingested the Generic Japanese preshow, May Black Cinema trailer, and the director's video intro for High Tide . Built and scheduled playlists for Babe: Pig in the City preshow, Happiness of the Katakuris , and Blade Runner . Manually ingested all playlists needed in Theater 1 for the week: new Everything Everywhere and Sonic playlists (no content needed to transfer, just the playlist), Fantastic Beasts (feature needed to be reloaded for a screening on Tuesday), and Blade Runner (feature already ingested locally, only playlist needed to be transferred). I went into the theater to try to reconnect the device but was simply given the message "Dolby Captiview Ready" with no captions following. Brought a second Captiview into the theater to see if this one would work properly and was given the same message upon connecting to the theater. No captions populated the display. I wasn't able to tech this issue further as I was running a print in T4. I asked MOD to ask the guest if the Captiview had been working initially or if it wasn't functioning to begin with--not sure which was the case. Round 3 in T6 did not start as automated. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Just before the last round in theater 4 began, I noticed that Ambulance  and some of its  pre-show content had not been transferred to the projector server. This prevented me from starting the film on time - this last round was a manual start - so I started transferring the feature content from the TMS to it as quickly as possible. This did not move quickly enough for us to begin the feature at the scheduled time, however, and I contacted Alec about our live play options. I had begun playing a generic pre-show to allow the guests to finally sit (there was a crowd of 23 waiting for the room to open) but ultimately had to eject this in order to start live playback remotely. We ended up starting the feature 4 minutes behind its scheduled time and successfully transferred the film itself and the missing pre-show content in the process. I was in constant communication with Gerard during this and apologized for how the delay had affecte

To do this evening/ was completed: Swept and mopped Booth 1 and Booth 4/6. Updated the maintenance log. Cleaned the gates of P1/P2 in T1 after 35mm screening. Presentation Issues: One slight hiccup at the beginning of Deadful Melody. I started the show with trailer reel and that played smoothly but as I changed over to the first reel of the feature the loop above the gate was suddenly much larger than it had been when I threaded the reel. It was hitting the interior of the projector, so I stopped the motor and brought the house lights up. I rethreaded the reel and made sure everything was good to go. This delay lasted three minutes total. Hit the house lights and started the show. Smooth sailing from there. I was confused by this though, as this reel had been threaded exactly like the trailer reel that came before it, and I had advanced the reel with the flywheel by many turns and the loops along with the rest of the threading looked totally fine to me the whole time I was advancing. To do this evening/ was completed: Looked at T1 IMS when I got in--scheduler was empty. Rescheduled content for the day.  Presentation Issues: Masking in T4 during Round 1 was a bit incomplete. Bleed on both side curtains during the beginning of the feature. Hit the FLAT macro on TMS to no avail. Hit the flat masking setting on the motor, also to no avail. Manually moved the curtains with the motor which mostly fixed the issue but the right side curtain was pushed further to the side than the left. Attempted to readjust but that resulted in image bleed on the left curtain. Restarted the motor after Round 1 and tested FLAT trailers and a SCOPE feature--masking was still misaligned. Manually adjusted curtains for Round 2. At the end of round 2, Will ran a house check and we noticed the lens alignment had been prominently shifted to the left. Readjusted the lens and saved the new alignment. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: T3 Egypt intro went smoothly. E

A guest told them that this had been going on for about ten minutes. I brought house lights up, closed the dowser, ejected the playlist and restarted the IMS. NPP Projection Report 4/8 Admin UPDATE

Important note :  DMS sent an external power supply for the CP750 for Theater 1. They are guessing an internal power supply failure is causing the channel assignment glitches we’ve been having. This would make sense as disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply has been temporarily fixing the issues. I disconnected the main power cord and attached the external power supply to the “back-up power” input on the back of the processor, and connected the external supply to power. This bypasses the internal power supply so we can continue monitor the unit to see if it ceases to glitch. I ran the channel ID test before opening (and after changing the power supply) and the alignment was correct. Please continue to run this daily. If we go a whole week with no issues I think it’ll be safe to say the internal power supply was the issue, at which point DMS will send us a new internal power supply for us to install in the unit. Continue scheduling Theater 1’s shows for the day before the theat

To do this evening/ was completed:  Presentation Issues:  Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up:  The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers screening in theater 1 went smoothly; I ended up starting this manually as the film was scheduled to begin a minute after the previous one ended and I wasn't sure if the interface glitch would have any effect on IMS playback -- scheduled a shutdown following this round which read as  Morbius on the TMS despite the IMS saying otherwise  Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Marquee updated?: Removed Spider-Man: No Way Home and added letters for  Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Posters updated?: Moved  Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to the front and put Secrets of Dumbledore in its place in the lobby Cleaning lights on for the night?: Yes Projection cart

To do this evening/ was completed: Move Sonic  poster outside, can replace either X or The Lost City . Add the title to the marquee. Fantastic Beasts  poster can go up as coming soon in the lobby. Presentation Issues: Ran the channel ID test in Theater 1, alignment was fine. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Seems every time the Theater 1 restarts now it erases the schedule, so I only scheduled for today. The TMS was also showing the wrong playlists, the first two rounds are correct but Lord of the Rings is showing up as Morbius and the Shutdown as Perfect preshow on the TMS. Correct playlists are showing on the schedule on the IMS server for Theater 1, and the runtimes on the TMS schedule are correct despite it showing the wrong playlist names so the correct content should play. Playlists/content are all loaded to Theater 1 for the week, so we’ll be OK scheduling day by day for now. I’ve written to DMS about this and also reminded them about our sound processor issue in this theater. Built

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: No sound issues in Theater 1. Preshow Clips/Playlist: I noticed the 7.1 Atmos version of the Sonic 2 DCP was ingested instead of the regular 7.1. I don't think this would have any playback issues, though it is a bigger file and there's a regular 7.1 version on the drive so I ingested that and added it to the playlist. Cleared the Atmos version from all servers. Built and scheduled the Shrek 2  and Magic Mike XXL playlists. Trailer Updates: The only Minions 2 trailer available on Trail Mix is 50 seconds, so I added the Prince of Egypt trailer to the PG pack for next week to bring it to around 10 minutes. Updated timing on cue sheets. Special Events/ AV set up: The Perfect screening and intro lol went great, as did trivia in Trees Lounge. All mics and cables have been put away. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Cristina dropped off a blu-ray of Willie Dynamite for the Shouting at

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: AC Blower interlock alarm in theater 1; Dolby house ID check completed with no issues  All of the content was wiped again from the scheduler for theater 1 on the TMS this afternoon. This happened around 2PM. Currently rebooting the TMS and will reschedule the content for the day and/or week as needed (this glitch is affecting scheduling for the upcoming week as well; also worth noting that whenever I place a title on the scheduler and refresh the page it displays the wrong film? I'm not sure how or why this happens) Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded and ingested the updated forecast pre-show content and added it to next week's show playlists Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Posters for Men were delivered   Ordering/Receiving (content): Sonic the Hedgehog 2 DCP was delivered and ingested; show playlist was also built and added to the scheduler  Outgoing/Shipping (cont
