To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: MODs turned on the fans in Theater 1 for the last round so I raised the volume for the trailers and feature. Will keep an eye on this tomorrow. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded and ingested the Lynch preshow clips. Built preshow playlists for Jungle Fever and Fire Walk with Me . Jungle Fever still needs the Bebe’s Kids trailer to be placed after the intro slide when it gets uploaded to Google Drive. Converted Jungle Fever and The Iron Giant slides and the Do the Right Thing Film Feast slide to DCP. Added the Film Feast slide to the playlist. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: The last two rounds in Theater 2 did not start. The playlists loaded but stayed paused at the beginning and had to be started manually, so the issue is definitely yet to be resolved. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded and ingested the Generic Summer preshow clips for the Wet Hot American Summer screenings. Built the playlist as well. Trailer Updates: Swapped the updated Orange and Blue Skies trailer into all playlists. Ingested a Three Thousand Years of Longing trailer for next week's R trailer packs. Also ingested a new Moonage Daydream trailer which is longer for the PG and PG-13 packs which were a bit short. Added the book promo as well to bring them up to the right length. Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): The Wet Hot American Summer drive arrived yesterday. Found it in the chef's office. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built new trailer packs for the week of 8/5 and a show playlist for Bullet Train  (the PG and PG-13 trailer packs are too short with the content that has been removed from the trailer list and we do not have a Three Thousand Years of Longing trailer for use in the R rated pack so I've placed Black Adam there temporarily); built new show playlists for all first run titles for the upcoming week (again, there is the issue of the trailer packs being too short, most noticeably in the PG and PG-13 rated titles, but once more content is added these will be fine to schedule) Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: I had some framing issues with the first couple reels of Good Burger but those were quickly resolved during the latter half of the show;  Paprika  screening in theater 3 went smoothly and the turntable was setup in Trees Lounge Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (conte

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Shouting at the Screen went very well, all cables, mics, the mixer, and other miscellaneous equipment is back in 4/6. The wireless mics are back in Theater 2’s booth. PA speakers and their stands remain behind the curtains in Theater 2 as Theater 1 was still in the middle of a show when I left.  The DJ equipment was broken down and cables returned to 4/6 however it needs to be stored in the closet before opening tomorrow. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):  Ordering/Receiving (content): Bullet Train DCP arrived, ingested to TMS and all IMS servers. Outgoing/Shipping (content): Printed a shipping label for Lilya 4-Ever and scheduled a pickup for tomorrow. Placed the print on the cart. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Updated 7/29 PG and PG-13 trailer packs, they had the Super Pets trailer listed in the trailer list and when I pointed this out to Kat she changed it so the Nitemoves, Tip, and How to Order PSAs are in the trailer pack. Removed these clips from the preshow for the relevant playlists and added the welcome slide to fill the time. Special Events/ AV set up: Lilya 4-Ever screening went great! Brought the mic/mixer back to 4/6 and returned the mic stand to Theater 1. Cleaned both projectors after the screening and wound all reels heads out on house reels for reinspection tomorrow. Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received Wakanda Forever posters, placed them in the caddy. To do this evening/ was completed: Finished updating the schedule and cue sheets for the upcoming week with the exception of some 35mm pre-shows and some event DCPs and first run content that we have yet to receive; I double checked the times against filmbot and everything looks in order (note: Shouting at the Screen's show playlist will need to be built by end of day tomorrow -- I saw that the slides had been made up on the projection laptop -- the feature volume/credit offset information is on the asset tracking doc) Presentation Issues: LampLOC board communication failure alarm from 11:16AM (this was from yesterday morning) is still active in theater 1's projector but is not affecting the presentation of content  Preshow Clips/Playlist: Updated all show playlists as much as I could given the limited amount of new pre-show content and trailers; the second update of the "OrangeandBlueSkies" trailer is being uploaded tonight for ingest tomorrow morning -- I would grea

To do this evening/ was completed: The film schedule was sent out very late this evening and I did not have a moment to begin working on it; I will begin (and try to complete) it during my shift tomorrow after I finish the Mo' Better Blues  walkthrough in the morning with Desmond and finish re-inspecting The Burning   Presentation Issues: Critical alarm is still active on theater 1's projector; the room got a bit warm during the last show so the MODs set up the fans again and asked me to turn the feature volume up -- it should be noted that the glass was not fogging at the start of the show and did not begin fogging during it Preshow Clips/Playlist:  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: The Burning screening in theater 4 went smoothly (I got ahead of myself by a few seconds on the changeover between reels 1 and 2 because I thought I saw the cues earlier than they actually appeared and switched over to the second reel about 10 seconds too soon, however, the rest of the ch

Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Tested the setup for Shouting at the Screen in Theater 2. We looked at the slideshow on screen, a played a bit of the feature with the mics on in the back of the theater. Everything looked and sounded good, I left as much as possible set up or under the curtains for Thursday. The only thing I removed was the mixer and one wired mic for the intro in Theater 4 on Wednesday night. An extension cord and XLR for connecting the left side PA speaker to power and the other speaker are taped to the stage floor right below the screen, which I covered over with the masking skirt so it won't be an eyesore for other shows. Three very long XLR cables (2 or 3 chained together) are under the curtain as well to run all the way to the back of the theater, each is labeled on each end with 1, 2, or 3,

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: The HVAC system broke down in theater 1 right before the last round which forced the MODs to place three fans throughout the auditorium; this created a considerable amount of white noise throughout so I turned up the feature volume to 6.7 (as opposed to the usual 5.5) to compensate for the additional sound Around 9:23PM I noticed a "LampLOC board communication failure/LampLOC state sensor failure" read out in theater 1 during the middle of the 9:00PM screening of Nope ; fortunately this did not immediately affect the light and the picture remained on screen but I could not get through to Jerry to query him about how best to troubleshoot the alarm (I reached out to Alec who said he would look at it tomorrow morning if the scheduled shutdown/restart doesn't fix the issue) Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoi

To do this evening/ was completed: Re-inspected Out of Time print, put the print back onto its shipping cores. The print didn't come with any containers so the reels are separated by pieces of cardboard. Taped them up pretty well. Cleaned both 35mm projectors after the screening as well. Presentation Issues: Either round one or two in T2 did not start as automated (can't remember which right now), likewise round two in T4. Bit of a side-to-side bounce coming from projector 1 during Out of Time. Was mostly present during reel two. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: The Out of Time screening went very well. Wound the print back onto house reels for tomorrow. Cleaned projectors before/after. The DJ set in Trees went well also. When Gerard came up to help me get the turntables out of the closet he said our setup was broken, which I hadn’t heard anything about. However he told me that John Woods left a replacement in the storage closet, it was just a turntable so I assumed one of the turntables was broken. After I set up our turntables Eliel swapped the broken one out for John’s (I didn’t know which was broken, both turned on and I had nothing to test them with, and I had to get ready for the 35mm screening). When we broke it down I left John’s turntable in the box with our working one. Someone was supposed to come work on the broken one today but as far as I know that didn’t happen. I put the first two Three Thousand Years posters we got in the trivia section, as well as the Oppenheimer ones as these would be a good prize and they’re just the teaser ones, and I doubt we’ll need to hang these before new ones come out for the release next summer.  Ordering/Receiving (content): Received Jungle Fever , Crooklyn , and No Way Out prints. Universal sent us two prints of Crooklyn by mistake. I took a quick look at both and one looked to be in a lot better condition than the other (which wasn’t horrible by any means, but looked a bit beat up). After John emailed them that we got two prints by mistake they arranged for one to be picked up on Monday, so the better one is in 4/6 and the other is on

Supernova intro and screening went very smoothly. Print looked really nice on screen. Rewound all reels heads out. Broke down equipment after the screening and brought everything back to 4/6. One note: one of our mic stands needs to be repaired or "reattached". It's laying beneath our AV boxes in 4/6. Cleaned the trap pieces on both 35mm projectors in T4 after the screening. To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 1 is open for business today, though still without working AC. There are fans placed around the room so the volume should be increased. I brought the first round of Nope up to 4.5 for trailers and 6 for the feature. The feature also opens with an Oppenheimer trailer, which should be played a bit quieter than the feature, I have it at 5.0 in the playlist, with a cue to raise the volume to 5.5 when the feature starts. The trailer can be left at 5.0 tonight, it’s one minute long so raise the volume a minute into the feature CPL. Also, just in case the port glass for Theater 1 gets foggy again, I removed two of the four screws that hold the one for the digital projector in place to make removing it easier if it’s needed. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built and scheduled playlists for both the dubbed and subtitled versions of Nausicaa . To do this evening/ was completed: Took down Descent letters. Received Nausicaa DCP, started locally ingesting to T3--asset copying is at 60% right now. I started this ingest about an hour before the 35mm show in T4 started.  Presentation Issues: Desmond notified me after the Wild Wild West screening that he heard a low buzz during the feature. He said it happened very briefly at the beginning of either reel two or three then reoccured for about the first half of reel five, and then discontinued again. He said it wasn't too prominent due to the soundtrack being very loud on its own. All reels were threaded exactly the same. Got a call from T2 at the beginning of round three notifying me that Thor was on screen instead of Top Gun. Checked the cue sheet and indeed it was the wrong feature on screen. I ejected Thor ninety seconds into its run, brought the house lights up to mid and then loaded the Top Gun CPL. The delay was minimal, but the end credits on the cue sheet had to be adjus

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: When the first round in Theater 6 started, the light would not stay on. The touch panel was giving an “Unexpected light off” error followed by a Ballast communication failure warning. No one had been seated yet, so I stopped the preshow and hard rebooted the projector. When it came back on I struck the lamp to see if I got the error again. The lamp stayed on with no further warnings so I restarted the preshow. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Wild Wild West is good to go for tonight. No mic set up, Desmond and the host won’t be using one for the intro. I ran a reel to check the framing after reading Will’s note from the tech and it looked good when I threaded the countdown in frame. To do this evening/ was completed: Theater 1 is closed for tonight due to AC issues. I left the server in manual mode so playlists don’t start. The projector’s lamp is off, so no need to put it back on schedule for the shutdown. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built preshow playlists for Out of Time , The Burning , and Lilya 4-Ever . Built and scheduled the playlist for the private event in Theater 4 this Thursday. Updated credit lighting cues in all playlists, and switched the light cue in the preshow cues pack to Up so we no longer need to add this cue to the first preshow clip in the playlists. I also noticed the the credits for Minions start a few minutes earlier than the credit offset we were given. There is a very brief section of credits (less than 30 seconds) before a mid-credits scene, followed by 2 minutes of credits and them the crawl. The credit offset we got was for the crawl, so I moved the lights up cue in the playlist to right after the mid-credits scene.

Preshow Clips/Playlist: Updated trailer packs (both this week’s and next) so the Godzilla/MST3k policy clips come after the Feature Presentation snipe, I had been in the habit of building them with these switched but Kat mentioned we should have them the other way around. Built and scheduled a playlist for the private Thor screening on Friday morning. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): The Terminator DCP came.  Ingested keys for Elvis , Top Gu

To do this evening/ was completed: Re-inspected  Project A Part II and wound it back onto its shipping reels; rewound the Sundays on Fire trailers onto their respective cores (wiped down all reels used during the screening and both projectors in 1 with alcohol wipes to reduce the vinegar odor) Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Sundays on Fire screening was a success (reel 2 was as warped and damaged as mentioned and this forced me to have to adjust the focus every few minutes but the rest of the reels were less troublesome; overall the run of show went smoothly despite the less than desirable appearance of the print throughout) and the private screening in theater 6 went smoothly Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content):  Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Marquee updated?: Posters

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built and scheduled a playlist for the Sundays on Fire preshow. Made updates to the playlist for the private Minions screening on Sunday. It needed 30 minutes of preshow, not 25, followed by the trailers and then the feature. Please check the event memo and ask Chenelle if you're not sure about any timing before building the playlist. I also asked her if we should include our in house trailers with the studio ones, but she said not to so I just used the adjusted trailer pack that was already made. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Set up Spoons in Theater 1 for tomorrow. Please remember to reconnect the wireless mics to the sound processor after their show on Saturday, despite everything else being broken down from Wednesday night which could've been left, the wireless mic XLR was left disconnected from the sound processor. Also, please take more time putting the cables away neatly when b

To do this evening/ was completed: Reinspected Matrix print, it's back in its cans in T1. Chenelle dropped off a drive for an event on 7/21. New trailmix drive arrived as well. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Spoons went smoothly. The host switched to another projector macro for a few minutes by accident, losing image subsequently, but it was a quick fix. I was unable to connect to the PC in T1 using Splashtop, seems the ethernet connection was lost, so I connected them to the IMS using the 3/7 PC. Equipment back in 4/6.  Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes Marquee updated?: Posters updated?: Cleaning lights on for the night?: Yes Projection cart by entrance?: Yes Additional Notes:

Print/video Inspection: Inspected Project A 2 , it is quite beat up. All reels were warped for at least

Forgot to publish my blog yesterday: To do this evening/ was completed: The AC leak in Booth 2 has sped up a bit, though not quite to what it was before, there's also a second drip (much slower than the first) just to the left of the first one, so make sure the trash can is positioned so that it catches both drips. I emptied the trash can as it was about a quarter full. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built and scheduled a playlist for Perdita Durango . Downloaded and ingested the 7/08 A forecast, Grill tip PSA, MST3k policy clip, as well as the Action in Scope trailer. Added the forecast to all playlists for next week, the tip PSA to PG-13 and R playlists, and the MST3k policy to the R trailer pack. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Packed up the Cat Video Fest DCP and attached the included FedEx return label.
