To do this evening/ was completed: All first run 7/07 playlists built. Playlists for The Fog and Sundays on Fire built as well. Continued downloading NoBudge video files in T1. T1 swept and mopped. Spent some more time practicing threading the platter in T1, as well as doing a bit of reading about the platter system.  Events playlists double-checked, all good. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. Happy Friday. When you're on your shift and have time, please continue practicing the threading sequence for the platter in T1. Call if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. Thanks! Tech'd Nashville and Jaws.  Volume for Nashville might have to be adjusted depending on the size of the crowd tomorrow.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded and ingest all new preshow content for 7/7. We can start building playlists this evening. We now have the following on the TMS:  TLR_NPP_FORECAST_0707A TLR_NPP_FORECAST_0707B  TLR_NPP_Viva TLR_NPP_Hollywood Shuffle  PS_FR_Midsommar_20min  PS_FR_Midsommar_10min  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Started downloading the NoBudge #34 shorts to the T1 comp. I've downloaded 4 almost 5 out of 8. There's a folder in the downloads section where I'm keeping them once they've fully downloaded. We can start to make DCPs once they're all done. There'

To do this evening/ was completed: Added all cues to T6 Quick Controls. Not sure how long we're keeping the Show Vault, but they're there. Built and tech'd private Now and Then playlist--we'll need to run the Spotify playlist they sent off the Nonsync output--cable has been connected to the booth monitor, just hit play. Update: we're using the 1/8" to xlr (mic input) for this since the 1/8" to x2 rca male did not work. Keep volume at 5.0 (on the processor) for this and do not raise it on the monitor/spotify! - Lillian  Scheduled an express pickup for Alien from LA for tomorrow 6/30 10:30-6. Bring the print down at the end of the night. ( Tracking is correct. I scheduled the email Cristina sent a few weeks ago to get forwarded to us this morning.) - Lillian Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Made the DCP for the ET slide.- Lillian   Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: See notes about the Now & Then show above. To do this evening/ was completed: Kept an eye on theaters 1, 2, and 6 for manual starts and/or server pauses throughout the evening; one manual start in T2 was scheduled on the cue sheets + T6 did not start its final round as scheduled and was delayed a couple minutes while I manually loaded the playlist Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Set up karaoke at Trees Lounge around 7PM and got everything started on schedule; Eliel pointed out to me that the HDMI audio connection was wired behind the bench beneath the screen so we used that this evening to eliminate the extra cabling to the XLR splitter and 1/8" cable The mixer in T4 needed to be set up before the Alien from L.A. screening began; I tested the spotlights and noticed the one to the left hand side (when facing the audience) was not working and will need its batteries changed -- there was no time to do so before the pre-show started -- and let Cristina know to use the on

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. So McKegg had some issues with the masking last night and there's no issues with any of the cues, breakers, or wiring on the rack. What happened is that some of the ethernet cables on the IMB got rearranged by accident when DMS was in. Everything's working just fine.  Please see maintenance notes about 35mm trailers below.  Presentation Issues: First round in T6 paused about two seconds after it started to automate (when I checked the playlist). MOD called up to let me know and I fast forwarded 3 min in.  Preshow Clips/Playlist: Built and scheduled staff screenings for Indiana Jones 5 . I tech'd volume/image/got a good look at credits to make sure everything's accurate--noted the missing preshow content from Jack/McKegg's blog, but the preshow part of the playlists had been built and some were scheduled.  Can I ask that we don't put another preshow in the playlist as filler before receiving accurate content? To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: When Asteroid City started in Theater 1, the masking cue didn't work. I tried to set it off through the TMS, but it didn't work. I called Lillian and went to fix it manually, which did work. For the last round, I switched it back to 1.85 once it was over.  Theater 6's automation wasn't working and had to do two manual starts Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): New Past Lives keys uploaded Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Another round of platter threading and I'm feeling better the more I do it! To do this evening/ was completed: Collin from DMS was here when I got in this morning. He left before he was able to get in touch with a colleague, who then later remotely accessed the desktop to do some reprogramming of the Show Vault server in T6. I tested some content in the theater after DMS finished--all good. Continued to build the cue sheets. Initially I didn't schedule any Indiana Jones show on the scheduler because we are still missing the Generic_HarrisonFord_15min content but eventually I decided to build the playlist with a placeholder (Generic_Summer) so I could see when each show would conclude and build the cue sheets with that info. This is to say that the playlist will have to be updated when we get the right content. **Some OCAP screenings still need to be added in on the TMS scheduler. Most are there but please double check.    Nashville locally ingested to T2, Wolf of Wall Street ingested to T1. Jaws playlist built. Jerry and Collin from DMS and our electrician

To do this evening/ was completed: Inspected Twister-- it's in really good condition--stills uploaded to Drive. Ingested Indiana_5min to TMS and scheduled the rest of the week sans Indiana Jones as we are still waiting on some preshow content. Cue sheets started. Jaws put up on the marquee. Shanghai Express brought down to side entrance for pickup tomorrow. Presentation Issues: Rounds two and three in T6 paused one second into the playlist. During round two, the TMS clock had become out of sync with real time, so fast forwarding the playlist the right amount was slightly tricky. After logging out and logging back in the issue was resolved. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Tetsuo was a hit. To do this evening/ was completed: Friendly reminder: we have to make sure the walkie is on us starting 1hr before we open.  T1 and T6 continue to run smoothly. DMS comes through tomorrow...more on that later.  TMS can continue to get scheduled. I'm holding off on scheduling anything that hasn't already been ingested to T6 while we're running, so please don't do that til the morning. I'm sure it'd be fine, but very slow, and it's usually on the slow side in all theatres whilst running anyway.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Downloaded Generic_Summer preshow content. Downloading Indiana Jones preshow content (comp is slow. needs to be restarted) please continue checking in on this/downloading and ingesting. Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ran Night of the Comet for Cristina this morning. Info has been noted on a white card attached to the print! It's not in the best condition, but it's decent. It'll be fun.  In conversati

To do this evening/ was completed: Continued monitoring T2 throughout the afternoon and, despite an X sensor failure alarm, the projector is at a healthy temperature level even with the booth being as warm as it is (there is a small blue floor fan plugged in and that has been running all day to keep the machine cool) Update: Checked the booth again before leaving -- temperature feels the same as before -- the floor fan is working and I will leave it running overnight Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Updated the  Tetsuo show playlist and adjusted its credit offset information on the cue sheets accordingly; lights down cue was in the wrong place in the 6/23 Elemental  show playlist and had to be moved up (lights did not go down when they should have during the penultimate round in T7) Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers):  Theater Camp  posters were delivered and stored behind 3/7 Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shippi

To do this evening/ was completed: Checked in on T2 at the beginning of the day--no new issues to report. Matthew called to see if we could try to turn the AC on after the 35mm show but it seems that idea was eventually nixed. For now the fan remains on with the booth door open. Took down the Mubi letters--a rep title can go up now. Presentation Issues: Round one in T6 paused itself one second into the first black cue at the beginning of the playlist. Just hit play once I realized it had stopped. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Shanghai Express went smoothly--reinspected the print after the show and packaged it up. Pickup can be scheduled tomorrow. To do this evening/ was completed: Big, big thanks to Alec for giving a great rundown of what happened yesterday. I have my own questions/theories for DMS about the IMB issue, but that'll be for Tuesday. Been doing as much research on what we haven't been able to get answers for, reaching out to some tech pals, too. There is not much I can add that would only echo Alec's blog, but if anyone has questions about the setup in T6, please do not hesitate to ask. Alec mentioned we can't transfer content from any other theatre to T6, only from the TMS, and my assumption is that this is because it's a different server, despite having an almost identical interface and despite the other theaters showing up in the 'options' section under 'location' when attempting to ingest. I do think this would be possible with T4 only because it's in the same space so we could connect the two with some cabling, but I don't think that's necessary. While we were wa

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all, this doubles as my blog from the admin shift yesterday and from the opening shift today. Lillian will include some notes from yesterday in her blog tonight, also. Keep an eye on booth 2. The AC is off due to the leak and it's going to be pretty humid this weekend. I put the blue fan right by the projector, and I'm leaving the door to the stairwell propped open for better airflow. So we are back up and running in Theater 1 and Theater 6. More details about what happened last night below. Both servers are assigned the right IP/auditorium number and are on the network. Automation is functioning in both houses as well. Chris from DMS remoted in late last night, around 3:30, to take care of everything and start features ingesting for today. I checked on things around 6:30 this morning and queued up the ingest for Little Mermaid to Th6,  Flash was still ingesting and had been for around 3 hours. That and the ingest of Spider-Man to Th1 we

To do this evening/ was completed: The server issues in T1 took up the first half of the shift. Ingested the new forecasts and built all first run playlists-- Past Lives doesn't start until the 41:00 minute mark so we'll need to lose something from the trailer pack. Manually handled Asteroid City in T1 during the final round. It went smoothly.  Was instructed by Gabe to press the marriage button on the Christie in T1 after the end of the final round so the IMS can be re-designated, as it's currently still "T6". Was told another DMS tech would be remotely logging in to finish the process but as of 12:30 that hadn't happened. I texted Gabe but didn't receive a response. Initially the plan was to schedule all of the content for T6 at the end of the night, as all of it has to be re-ingested to the new server before showtime tomorrow morning. At this point the ingestion will have to happen when Alec gets in at 10. There will be about 2-2.5 hours before the firs

To do this evening/ was completed: Spent some time going through the past two weeks' blog entries and emails--catching up on everything. T6 ingest issues noted--T2 lamp sensor issue noted. Also spent some time looking over the threaded platter setup in T1. Threading should be easy enough but am looking forward to getting some live training in. Presentation Issues: Rounds two and three did not start as automated in T1. Playlist paused itself at the 00:00:00. Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Multiple Maniacs Intros + live performances went very smoothly. We did a test run before opening the theater and I was not able to hear any audio from the mic input through the QSC. I was able to hear audio through every other input however. Because I couldn't really hear the intros I had Desmond walkie me during certain transitions--ended up working well. Mic brought back up to the booth after the screening. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey projectionists (welcome back, JC!) just so y'all know, the leak was definitely due to the AC unit being faulty, so it's off. Also, we're supposed to get rain pretty for, regrettably, the next week or something like that, so I'm keeping the windows closed. Jack is updated on out T6/T1/T2 shortcomings with the lamp/storage issues.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: I went through all the playlists we have for 6/23 to make sure the forecasts are correct.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Multiple Maniacs should be a great show. I went through the playlist this morning and then went over Alec's notes with Jack. Pretty simple setup with the laptop, headphone jack, etc. Just need to make sure those wash cues are all set. I built the intro playlist in VLC (silent bits are definitely there). I've asked Jack to just check in with Desmond beforehand to make sure they're on the same page with run of show.  Or

To do this evening/ was completed: A leak coming from the A/C in booth 2 got through the ceiling and onto some of the seats in the back row; MODs radioed me about this and we went to the booth to look it over. I messaged Alec about potentially turning the A/C unit off in order to slow the progress of the leak and he suggested this could work since it was coming from the condenser. I asked the MODs to turn the unit off after opening a window in the booth and have been monitoring the leak for the time being Update: The leak has slowed considerably (time is now around 8PM) but I will continue to check in on the unit throughout the evening Update 2: Checked again around 9PM and the leak stop altogether; I left the window closest to the door open to help ventilate the space which had grown warmer but not too hot Update 3: Per the email correspondence between Matthew and the MODs we are going to keep the A/C unit off overnight to avoid any further leaks/water damage but I will keep the windo

Alec's notes italicized. To do this evening/ was completed: Looking good on content--we've got everything we need for the week.  Staff screenings are out! Had a bit of a scare in Th6 this morning, the storage was completely down when I got in. After talking with Jerry from DMS I put in the three old drives we took out of Th3 when we upgraded our storage, which resolved it. No more "storage degraded" warning either, so we can ingest whenever. That said, DMs should be coming by tomorrow with a replacement IMS, so we will hopefully be able to use the bigger storage drives again, which of course means we'll have to reingest everything. I've scheduled shows for tomorrow so they're ready to go just in case, but we can hold off on scheduling anything else in Th6 for tonight. I cleared all scheduled shows from Th6 after tomorrow. Made some notes on the platter instructions on the manual, please take a look. Updated the 1.85 FILM masking preset in Th4 for Alien fro

To do this evening/ was completed: Now and Then DCP should have fully converted by tomorrow morning.  Presentation Issues: Got a buzz that the volume for The Little Mermaid in Theater 7 was too loud, so I dropped it down a little bit.  Preshow Clips/Playlist: Made a playlist for the CCAP and OCAP Past Lives for next week, including making a new trailer pack.  I was building an Alien From LA playlist as well and I noticed that the trailer list calls for a slide, but I couldn't find an Alien From LA slide sent to us to convert. I sent an email to Cristina to double check.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Trivia went off without a hitch! To do this evening/ was completed: Guardians 3 got taken off the marquee but the poster is still up, can this get replaced with The Flash tonight? Matthew sent out an updated film schedule today. These updates can be made to the cue sheets and TMS schedule tonight. Tonight should also be a good night to go through the cue sheets for next week and tie up as many loose ends as possible. God of Cookery can be inspected as well. I ripped the Now and Then DVD for the private event next Thursday. The framerate was kinda confusing since the MakeMKV file was 30fps. Left it that way when I put it through HandBrake but when I got it in DCP-o-matic the video played sped up and the audio was out of sync. I'm reconverting it through HandBrake, changing the framerate to 24fps. I generated a preview and put that into DCP-o-matic and the video/audio played at the right speed and were in sync, so this new DCP file should work. It's on the booth 1 iMac desktop. To do this evening/ was completed: Elemental screenings are going well! I've been finding it best to check in with MOD before a manual start so you can let them know that you'll bring up the next film when they're ready. Few more tight turnarounds/manual starts this evening. Keep the walkie nearby.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Started building out the playlists for 6/23 and noticed that the 6/9 forecasts were in not all but definitely a few of the 6/16 playlists. Also, some of these are also missing the 'tip' bit of the preshow. Not sure what exactly happened here but it's frustrating. Please be extra careful when you're building these. I have adjusted the forecasts for the 6/16 playlists that needed it, but I have not adjusted the 'Tip' because it will change the length of the shows by 1 minute, messing up the cue sheets for the rest of the day, so I will change that first thing in the morning and adjust the cue sheets where neces
To do this evening/ was completed: Platters are working nicely in Theater 1 and 4. We need a new fuse for the motor for the Th4 platter, the one in there was completely blown. I swapped in the fuse for the light which is working for now but we'll need one that matches the amps/volts. I've ordered some. The platter in Th4 still starts and stops as the film pays out. It's not a terrible thing, it wont result in brain wrap, it's just because the brain isn't self calibrating, so the motor will only go at one speed, so it turns (slightly too fast), pays out too much film so the arm which activates the motor is pushed all the way forward (turning the motor off), and then once the projector has pulled more film through and pushed the arms back (to start the motor again), the deck turns, and on and on like that. Sadly the self calibrating brains from Th1 do not work on the Th4 platter since there is nothing to regulate the motor speed in the platter tree itself. I will try

To do this evening/ was completed: Hey projectionists. Please remember to have a good read through the email I sent out this morning detailing the changes for Elemental . As I mentioned, not all the shows will require a manual start, it's just that most of them do and/or cause other films to need a manual start. Please check the cue sheets/TMS first thing when you arrive.  I wound up moving the staff screening of The Flash into T3 so I could change the lamp in T2. We had loads of time before opening that theatre up today, but I also had to tech in T1 with Cristina and Desmond and wanted to make sure that T2 could just be clear for whenever we'd finish. Thanks to staff for being understanding!  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Deleted the old Elemental playlists we used yesterday. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey projectionists! We've got a big week ahead of us. We open up with Elemental today and, as I'm sure you're all aware of by now, there were some scheduling mishaps with showtimes/overlap with this feature. In a lucky turn of events, today's showtimes for Elemental are perfectly fine, but starting tomorrow we're going to be knee deep in manual starts. I'll send a proper email out tomorrow morning detailing the changes for the week ahead and how we'll be able to keep our feature  presentations successful. Matthew, Paul and I went over the 6/16 - 6/22 schedule this morning and I filled out the rest of it on the cue sheets today (things will look a little different to what we're used to). Besides all things Elemental , it is crucial that everyone checks both the blog and the event calendar to double check special events info including our regular weekly events such as Trivia and Karaoke. At first I thought this was a file issue so I stopped the SPL to play the isolated CPL but, unbeknownst to me,  The Flash  was ingesting in the background on this IMS which was causing the skipping -- I was in communication with Lillian who said this could be a probable cause even though this ingest was not meant to be scheduled so soon -- and, once I paused this ingest in progress, the film played normally for the rest of its duration.
