Projection 12/31

To do this evening/ was completed: Happy New Year's Eve 💥 No issues today.  When checking in on the houses this morning I noticed the warning on the T2 projector for the lamp change, which I suspected would need to be swapped out soon. Stayed a little later and switched this out after the last show. New lamp is working well! The sensor issue is the same (don't pay any mind to it. this is on the DMS list, but it doesn't cause any immediate issue). Put the MKV file of Paddington 2 through Handbrake. Please get the DCP going tomorrow. Thank you!  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Cue sheets updated/checked (every shift): Yes. To do this evening/ was completed: Re- Make MKV inquiry from previous blog: So, this is always a little annoying to do since we haven't purchased a license from them, but you essentially need to download the latest access key (which I now have bookmarked) as it's available for the beta version through mid January. You need to reopen Make MKV after entering the licensure (perhaps a few times, which is what i had to do and it was very annoying) but! It should work. I got this up and running again and pulled the Paddington 2 file. This has been downloaded to the comp in T1. Please run this through Handbrake tonight and reference the Projectionist Manual if you can't remember some of the steps. Thanks!  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Checked the SE playlists for this week and made sure all T6 and T4 playlists are set.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Ordering/Receiving (content): Received keys for Tokyo Fath

To do this evening/ was completed: Ran through some reels of Godfather to find some pictures of De Niro. Could only get one decent shot, so maybe we can try for more tomorrow. Took a look at When Harry Met Sally after the last round in 1, picture and sound all set. Noticed the playlist was missing the NitehawkPresents slide, added that. Also took out a few elements that were listed for other playlists only. Removed all 12/22 playlists from servers. T1 35s cleaned. Presentation Issues: Round one in T4 started with a blank, grey image on screen. Dowser was technically closed on Christie panel. Opened it and the preshow came back on screen. Second round in T4 started with the dowser "closed" again on the panel but the preshow was playing normally. Guess it's just finicky. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey all. Thanks for the Christmas coverage and for quickly hopping on board to accompany Alec while he's out for a little while - I really appreciate it. We've just about got our schedule sorted, so please remember to take a look to see the changes made.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Double checked that T6 and T6 specific playlists are all set.  Tomorrow! Please get your eyes on When Harry Met Sally just to check sound/image and credits info. Screens this Saturday/Sunday but the keys open up tomorrow. I adjusted the playlist based on the ingest letter (and looked it up online, but the offset is a little different, so you'll want to make sure!) Thanks! Adjust cue sheets if necessary.  Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Received Drive Away Dolls posters.  Ordering/Receiving (content): We're all good on KDMs at the moment.  Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Ins

To do this evening/ was completed: Made 12/29 T4 playlists and scheduled them 12/29 - 1/4. Gave the 35 projectors in T4 a good cleaning, T1 swept and mopped. Received a Blu-Ray of Paddington 2. Tried to start the rip process but when I opened MakeMKV it informed that the version we have is out of date and that I'd either need to update the application or provide a registration key. Has this happened before? I couldn't find a key to list. Uploaded keys for Harry Met Sally, Iron Claw  and Poor Things. We have a print of The Mission resting in T1. It's features Deniro, so I imagine it's related to the series, but I can't find the film listed on the calendar January - March 2024, and it isn't listed on our website. Reached out to programming about it. To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Despite my double checking the cue sheets, TMS, and website yesterday morning there was an open captions screening of The Color Purple this afternoon that played without any text on screen; all efforts were made to ensure the guest who took notice of the error was appropriately taken care of, however, they did not require a closed captioning device for the duration of the film (no other guests issued any complaints regarding this mishap) and the screening continued without any issues Update: turns out no open caption "T4" show playlists were made for The Color Purple following the issue Alec ran into with the douser earlier in the week; I have since made these SPLs and scheduled them accordingly as tomorrow morning's OCAP screening of this film was also scheduled incorrectly as a CCAP show Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): Placed an order

To do this evening/ was completed: No issues with T4 today, kept an eye on it for all rounds. Tech'd the Ferrari playlist. Feature sounds good at 5.0. Maybe it could get bumped to 5.5 but the difference is small. Preshow content for the playlist sounds fine at 3.5. Noticed that the Winter Welcome sounded too loud at 4.0 in T6 so I brought it back down to 3.8, with the Winter Feature brought back to 4.0. I know these volumes can fluctuate from theater to theater but I think 3.8 and 4.0, respectively, work best.  Finished building the 12/29-1/4 cue sheets. Close to the end of the shift, around 6:45, there was another second-long flicker in the 4/6 booth, just like the power outage that occurred a few weeks ago. I checked in on all projectors and they were fine, shows weren't interrupted, but the music went out on all floors and in Trees. I tried reconnecting the iPad to the rack it's connected to, tried restarting the Soundtrack app, tried disconnecting and reconnecting to Wi

To do this evening/ was completed: Hi all. Alec detailed the issues in T4 in his blog from today, so please get your eyes on that when you can. He also sent out an email about this. We've been stable this evening, but we'll definitely try to get this all fixed up as soon as we can. Alec scheduled T4 specific playlists through Monday. I added more for the rest of the week and built playlists for Color Purple and Ferrari OCAP . I'm trying to be optimistic about this getting sorted sooner rather than later, and we can always put the normal playlists back on the schedule if it does, but better safe than sorry. I moved the Tuesday staff screening of American Fiction into T5 and updated the calendar.  I filled out the TMS schedule for 12/29 - 1/4 Updated the posters outside and adjusted the marquee this evening. I put up Mean Girls outside with the Coming Soon sign above.  Tomorrow we'll have to put up Ferrari , then The Color Purple  on the marquee for Sunday. Please remem

Presentation Issues: Towards the end of the first round preshow in Theater 4 Gil radioed me that the screen was dark in Theater 4 and sound was still playing. I saw an error message on the touch panel saying "LampLOC board communication failure" and assuming this was related to the dark screen tried restarting the projector with no luck removing the error or restoring the picture. This round was ultimately canceled.  I called Christie who suggested I reseat the IMCB which I did twice and this had no effect on either the error message or the picture. To do this evening/ was completed: Inspected reels 3-12 of Godfather Pt II. Print is in good condition overall. All of the reels feature CO cues only 7-8 frames from the end, a few of them 0-5 frames from the end. I added grease cues 24 FFE to the reels that really needed it. This is noted in the inspection form. End of reel seven, beginning of reel eight features an intermission, with multiple sets of cues at the end of reel seven, giving us the option to include or skip the intermission. This looks a helluva lot better now and should be an excellent show. I went through the playlist and each automation cue for the masking and everything's looking real good. To do this evening/ was completed: Hey team. The schedule for January has been posted.  Also! We now have a Spotify account just for projection use. This will be helpful when we have events that require a playlist during preshow so that we're not competing with the bar/running into any issues or have to use our own accounts anymore. The email we're using is the prospectparkkdm@gmail.com that you're already familiar with. The email/password info is in the NPP Vendor/Account Logins spreadsheet in the drive. I've also written this on the white board above the desk in 4/6. I cleaned up the board, reorganized a bit to make more space/make it a bit neater.  Important note: You must (!) remember to actively write down your inspection notes in the inspection form provided when going through a print. This is incredibly important. We all rely on these in order to have a good show and maintain solid relationships with the distros/collectors, etc.  Iron Claw, Migration, American

To do this evening/ was completed: Ran through the Dream Scenario playlist this morning in T3 just to see if I could mimic the issue that occurred last night. Playlist ran smoothly. The Winter Feature element sounded too hot at 4.5 so I updated trailer packs to run that piece at 4.0. I know the volume can vary from theater to theater (4.5 sounds alright in T1) but I thought it'd be best to play things a little more quiet overall.  Hudsucker Proxy went alright but there were 1.5 presentation issues, the more prominent of which being that the leader for reel two snapped right as I hit the motor, clean snap right between 7 and 8 on the countdown. I stopped the motor and muted the 750, brought house lights up and reconnected the rest of the leader to the take up reel, got the picture back on screen in about 1.5 minutes. I feel like I recall a similar motor-start-snap issue a few months ago? The leader was definitely taut on the take-up reel, no slack at all. The other half-issue was th

I think Renaissance sounds alright at 4.0 instead of 5.8, but we should get ears on it tomorrow. Regardless of the volume, however, I think all concert films should play in T5 exclusively, as that's the only auditorium that's really separated from the others. I personally would be driven crazy by the low hum and vibration of another movie intruding on my film, and I know there were multiple complaints to

To do this evening/ was completed: A very quiet night compared to last. About to wipe down the surfaces in 4/6 and then pack up since I gotta be at WB early tomorrow, so I'm posting about 20 mins early here.  Presentation Issues: House lights up didn't execute in the SUB playlist for The Boy and the Heron during credits (round 2 in T2). The cue was definitely in the playlist, so ran through it again between rounds and, for some reason, the cue didn't execute. I took it out of the playlist and then put it back in. I told Nathaniel I'd keep my eye on it since it'd play for 3rd round and when the time came, it worked just fine! Kind of a mystery. Had a look in the booth in T2 and nothing suspicious. The SPL missing note on the TMS for this show seems weird but those are normally inconsequential and there's no specific thing it's listed at missing. The playlist is just fine. I don't suspect any issues moving forward. Preshow Clips/Playlist:  Kat's going

To do this evening/ was completed: MODs radioed me that one of the tables in T4 was very loose. The bolts were not fastened back on, presumably after the work on the table lights, so I tightened them. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Brunches went well Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): We got a couple posters, Imaginary and Out of Darkness . Ordering/Receiving (content): Outgoing/Shipping (content): Print/video Inspection: Inspected the first 3 reels of Wizard of Oz . Good looking print, it’s a reissue print with SRD sound and printed for 1.85 lenses, the 1.37 frame is pillarboxed within the 1.85 matte. Should look very good. Reels 1-3 are tails out on the shipping reels in the can. Asset tracking doc updated/checked?: Maintenance/cleaning: Checked the plug for the QSC in T1’s booth, the cable was tied quite tightly to the rack which probably led to it shifting a bit over time. I re-tied it with a bit more slack leadin

To do this evening/ was completed: Spent some time helping to trouble shoot an issue at WB. Walked Will through the reseating of ICP, marriage initiatives, etc. Big night for those folks. It was certainly a feat. They're stable at the moment, but send some good energy up yonder.  Update: Well, the qsc went out briefly this evening with 20 minutes of Renaissance left in T1. All I did was notice that the power plug wasn't entirely in. My only theory (since I was able to just unplug and plug it back in without issue) is that the bass might've wiggled it out since it's not a super firm fit. I got sound back up in less than two minutes from Wyatt's call, rewound part of the film and then we were golden. Alec, if you wouldn't mind getting your eyes on the amp first thing in the morning just to double check that it's okay, I would appreciate it. I'll shoot you a text.  Staff Screening and Screener went well today. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Te

To do this evening/ was completed: Presentation Issues: Checked on T3's speakers throughout the evening to note any further issue with static and/or crackling coming from the right rear surround monitor Brought the volume for  Renaissance down a bit this evening to keep from having any noise complaints from customers in adjacent theaters Preshow Clips/Playlist: Brought the feature volume cue for Renaissance down from 6.0 to 5.8 for next week's SPLs since even with near sold out crowds the bass during the performances can be heard very easily throughout certain parts of the building Built all SPLs for Wonka (this includes additional SPLs for playback in T6) Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Killers of the Flower Moon Apple TV event in T5 wrapped up this evening with very little fanfare and the hosts cleared out before the final round began STB setup in T1 this evening went smoothly (had to adjust individual mic volumes from the processor in the booth ever so slightly/t

To do this evening/ was completed: Hi all. Jack is still out sick and cannot make his shift tomorrow, so I'll be in for a mid to closing shift and will arrive onsite at 1pm. There is a staff screening in T5 and a screener for our programmers in T4, both starting at around the same time. Playlists are built and everything has been blocked on the calendar. Will is gonna get his eyes on the screener since the keys open up at Midnight.  Note: I've gone over this with Will, but, for posterity I'm putting some house keeping notes here:  Marquee letters are ready to go up.  Posters could get organized a little.  Keep an eye on T3, but I've sat in on Napoleon again this evening and we should be fine, but again, we'll be replacing this.  The  Wonka  preshow - 5min, 15min, and 25min DCPs are all currently downloading to the DCPII drive. Please ingest to the TMS once complete. If there's time, please start downloading Poor Things preshow content. Thanks!  Presentation Iss

To do this evening/ was completed: Note for managers - Please do NOT turn on the table lights tomorrow. This goes for all theatres, despite the fact that I'm not sure which screening rooms they'll be in. We are keeping them off for maintenance. The light technicians are coming in on Monday!  Had our cinema meeting - We're looking great on content, just had to forward our specs to the techs for Beyond Utopia (private on Monday next week) since their security blocked my first email. Road Side Attractions emails are tricky and this has happened to me before, but the bounce back didn't show up until the second time I sent it. Ask someone on the team for an alternate address if you ever run into this. Update: received/ingested the keys and we got an e-delivery for the DCP. I have ingested this and will take a look tomorrow!  Presentation Issues: Projection please note: I got a call from Carly that the masking didn't execute for Napoleon in T3 first round. I found that

To do this evening/ was completed: A lot of events tonight cascading atop each other, but with Alec handling Still , it was a manageable evening.  Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: I built the playlists for Boy and the Heron SUB, DUB, and DUB_OCAP. The feature still needs teching, but it should be set to go otherwise.  Trailer Updates: New PG-13 Trailer Pack is built Special Events/ AV set up: Alec handled the Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie event which seemed to go well!  Cristina's intro for The Trouble With Angels went smoothly and everything is broken down.  Trivia also went a good as it ever does and has been broken down as well.  Ordering/Receiving (posters & trailers): I ingested The Color Purple trailer to our servers Ordering/Receiving (content): I ingested Christmas Vacation into Theater 2 The Killers of the Flower Moon DCP for the event Thursday finished downloading late in the night, so it's ingesting on the TMS overnight.  Keys for How to Have

To do this evening/ was completed: The regular Priscilla playlist was scheduled for the Babies screening today. Please remember to make a separate playlist for the Babies showings and schedule it for the Tuesday matinee in Theater 2. Made one for KOTFM next week and scheduled it. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: Trailer Updates: Special Events/ AV set up: Set up and tested the mics in Theater 4 for the Still Q&A tonight. This is all set for tonight. Set up a mic in Theater 3 for tonight's intro. Checked the feature as well and bumped up the volume in the playlist and added a lights up cue for the short end credits sequence. Posting late since I was here through the private event in Theater 4 because DMS wasn’t able to send a tech. This went well although the lav mic for Michael J. Fox didn’t work super well. I had it turned up all the way but it was still too quiet and the director held his wireless mic up to him as he talked. They requested a second lav mic right

To do this evening/ was completed: Received notice today from Deluxe about the updated versions os Renaissance, and that there will be no more supplementary packages. Alec ingested new files this past weekend, which are indeed the updated versions listed in this morning's email. We will need new keys. I reached out to Deluxe and the keys will be issued mid-week, probably Wednesday.  Couple manual starts tonight - keep an eye on the TMS.  Parasite will screen in T3 tomorrow @10am. Just putting a reminder here that we're streaming. Presentation Issues: Preshow Clips/Playlist: As per Alec's note on Friday, I ran through the Christmas Evil playlist to double check credit offset and lowered the volume a tad since it was pretty darn loud.  Trailer Updates: As per Desmond's request this morn, I updated the Beyonce playlists to have the Dream Girls trailer in there. I made a separate playlist pack for this.  Special Events/ AV set up: Made some adjustments to the NoBudge pla
